Elle felt as if her head had been hit. Her eyes that had been watching the shadows of the two men's shoes froze and all she could think was Mikail's words and the butler as the latter explained that the reason for Mikai's action was Count Arthur's instruction in the first place. This explain why Mikail was not immediately kicked out of the Vernon Household despite offending her. It was because from the start, it wasn't Mikail's fault that she was forced to leave the slum, rather it was all her father's own demand.
Mikail seemed to feel awkward. He replied, "The Count didn't order me to go that far. It was a genuine mistake that I had done myself."
But the butler knew that wasn't the truth. Mikail was brought up as an extremly polite knight. Even to those of the poor of the poorest, he treat them with the most respect. Even hasten with any threats, he had always made sure to hurt no one's feelings including those of the humans.
