Huan Manchu walked towards the young man. "What a reward to find you in the forest when your father has made my life miserable."
Huan Wei pointed the tip of his sword at him. "Back off, asshole. I am not like the fools around you. I am not afraid of you."
He was afraid, but he had the courage to overcome his fear. He had made the first serious decision of his life. There was no cowering anymore. Even if he died in this, he would embrace death with courage.
Huan Manchu started laughing. The young man's words amused him. The man began to laugh loudly. "First I'll kill his child and give him a taste of filial pity, then I'll kill him and take my revenge."
At that moment, Huan Wei wanted to find out about the enmity between his father and this man. But he gave up. "Don't talk too much, attack."
Huan Manchu was surprised. He looked at the young men who had come with him. "The boy you call a loser is braver and more skillful than all of you. I came here taking a lot of you with me. There are only three of you left."
The other young men said nothing. They had just realized the seriousness of the situation because their friend had died. They were just going to capture Huan Wei and hand him over to Huan Manchu. Things had gotten out of hand and many had died. By the time they realized that Huan Wei was not a loser, it was too late.
Huan Wei, on the other hand, was paying all his attention to Huan Manchu. He didn't think the others would attack him while he was here. If he could parry their attacks and lunge for his throat, he might win.
The muscular man lunged at him and threw a fist. Huan Wei was expecting it. He immediately ducked and moved behind the man with a slash across his leg. When his sword met his flesh, he realized something.
The man's fist had hit the tree and shattered a small part of it. The cut on his leg was not deep. It was almost like a scratch.
"Stonebody, boy." Huan Manchu spoke. "If your father hadn't caught me, if I hadn't spent 20 years in prison, I would be in the Great Sword Palace."
"My father is not a guard. How did he catch you?" Huan Wei asked as the other young men watched.
"That is none of your business." Huan Manchu turned toward him. "You are fast. Even if you can't increase your cultivation, you're not sitting idle. Then I'll show you that I'm not idle either."
Huan Manchu suddenly jumped. He was very fast. Since Huan Wei knew he was in the Stonebody tier, he couldn't fully rely on his sword. So he built the battle on his speed.
At the same time he lunged at the man and parried his successive fists. The young men exchanged a few moves as they watched him. Huan Wei could not attack, but he was not being attacked either. He didn't try to counter any punches.
At that moment they all realized how superior Huan Wei was to them. Even though there were so many of them, none of them had stood up to Huan Manchu. Now the loser Huan Wei was fighting bravely. They watched from the sidelines. The humiliation they felt knew no bounds.
Huan Manchu reached out and grabbed Huan Wei by the collar. The young man immediately drew one of the daggers from his waist and thrust it at his head, but Huan Manchu caught his hand by the wrist. He then lifted the young man into the air and slammed him down hard. Huan Wei could almost feel his bones crunching together. Yet he made no sound. He was not going to moan in pain and give him pleasure.
"You really believed for a moment that you could fight back, didn't you? Hahhahhahahahaha!" Huan Manchu laughed as he lifted him up with one hand and threw him against the tree against which he had leaned his back when he came here.
The young man who tried to fight back was completely crushed in terms of physical strength. He spun in the air and hit the tree and fell to the ground. His left hand hurt like crazy. He had probably hit his hand on the tree.
He punched the ground and got up. He ignored the pain. He held his sword in both hands and attacked, shouting in rage.
Huan Manchu stayed where he was. He did not make any movement. Huan Wei jumped up and spun around, swinging his sword with all his strength.
The muscular man quickly raised his hand and moved to strike the side of the sword. Huan Wei had anticipated that he would do this. So he changed the direction of the sword a little. Huan Manchu missed the sword and his shoulder was cut. The wound was not very deep, but it was not a scratch this time.
The young man immediately jumped back and gained some distance. He had an annoying smile on his face. Huan Manchu frowned as he looked at his own shoulder.
"You fool people well, don't you, Huan Wei?" he said. "All this time you've made them see you as a loser. You hid your strength and skill. So no one suspected you."
An ominous feeling emanated from Huan Manchu, causing all the youths to take a step back. Huan Wei also stepped back. He recognized this feeling.
Huan Manchu suddenly lunged forward. The young man thought to raise his sword to defend himself, but it was too late. He dodged a punch to the face by twisting his body to the side. Huan Manchu had smashed the trunk of the tree behind him and knocked it over.
Huan Wei realized that he had made the man angry. He was no longer trying to play games. One blow from such a physical force would finish him off.
He thrust his sword into the ground and threw dirt in the face of the man who ran at him. But this was not enough to stop Huan Manchu.
He grabbed Huan Wei's sword and twisted it with one hand. Then he kicked the young man. Huan Wei tried to move out of the way of the attack, yet he was unable to dodge it completely and fell to the ground twisting and turning with great pain in his torso.
His wound had just healed, but he could feel it reopening.
He was not going to die like this. If one's soul defied fate, it should not die in such a ridiculous way.
He tried to get up, supporting himself with his hands. Huan Manchu helped him. Grabbing him by the throat and lifting him into the air.
Huan Wei couldn't breathe. His sword and one of his daggers had dropped. When he tried to pull out the other dagger, Huan Manchu grabbed his wrist too.
"Your father ended my life. Because I spent 20 years in prison, I lost my chance to enter the Great Sword Palace. He condemned me to a life of misery." The muscular man spoke. "But the gods gave me another chance."
As Huan Manchu continued to strangle him, a large stone smashed against his head, sending him staggering and knocking the young man from his grasp. He groaned in pain and put a hand to his head. It was bleeding.
Turning his head to look where the stone had come from, he saw the person who had ignited the hatred in his soul. Gritting his teeth, he spoke. "Huan Chao..."
Huan Chao was holding another stone as big as his head. When Huan Manchu was distracted, Huan Wei crawled backwards away from him. The other young men didn't know what to do. Huan Chao's arrival had spoiled things. He too had Body Tempering at the Stonebody tier. It was very difficult for them to inflict damage with weapons.
"Did it hit your head?" the pot-bellied man asked sarcastically. He was throwing and holding a stone in the air.
"Fate could not have been kinder to me." Huan Manchu laughed. "The ones I want to kill are together. They are standing right next to me."
Huan Wei knew his father could not win this battle. Huan Chao was in no shape. Huan Manchu, on the other hand, was never idle. Since their Body Tempering were the same, Huan Manchu would definitely win. Moreover, they were outnumbered.
Huan Wei went towards the youngsters waiting behind. He had to reduce the number somehow. He didn't feel like trusting his father, but he had no choice. He was clinging to a snake in the grass.
At that moment, Huan Manchu, seeing him get up and walk away, turned toward him again and followed him. "Where do you think you are going?"
He had only taken a few steps when a second stone smashed into his head, knocking him to the ground. The man groaned and grabbed his head with both hands. When he stood up angrily, Huan Chao had another stone ready.
"Will you ever turn your back on me again, Manchu?" he said as he threw the stone into the air and held it. "You have become stupid. You were smarter when you were a kid."
"All right, motherfucker. Have it your way." Huan Manchu turned to him. He turned his head and looked over his shoulder at the young men. "I leave the boy to you. Kill him now," he said, and turned back to his true enemy.
Huan Chao was walking towards him. The drunkard had a disgusted look on his face. Huan Manchu's eyes screamed hatred. As they both lunged towards each other, the young men drew their weapons and pointed them at Huan Wei.
But he had a plan.
