Even though Fang JunRong wasn't involved in the company's business, she would still join Li WangJin in attending some banquets occasionally. In the past, she'd go into work mode and see if she could nail down a few contracts for the company during these banquets, but now.

She had no interest in Li WangJin's company. She didn't care if it went out of business as long as it didn't happen until after her divorce. As such, she laid back in a corner and leisurely enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres at the banquet, even occasionally commenting on them.

In the past, Li WangJin didn't care for his wife's persistently meddling in the company's business when she could just be a stay-at-home pampered wife. But now that he saw her disengaged, he was displeased.

Several new procedures had been established this year, and the company floundered to keep up with them. The company had suffered a minor setback this quarter. A few influential Second Generation Richs were also here at this banquet. Fang JunRong went to high school with a couple and had decent relationships with them. He brought Fang JunRong with him today because he hoped that she'd be able to get some information from her old classmates.

He chatted with a few other CEOs and finally couldn't help but walk over to Fang JunRong. He put on a gentle smile. As though he worried about startling her, his voice was as tender as possible. "JunRong, I saw a couple of your old friends over there. Don't you want to go chat with them?"

Fang JunRong looked over in the direction that he had indicated. Surrounded by a group of people, there was He JianBin, one of her high school classmates. He JianBin was from one of the old monies in City S. Her family had been around for tens of years and could be considered eminent. Plus, her family was very close to many influential people in the Capital City and would have first-hand news many times.

Fang JunRong had a good relationship with He JianBin. They weren't as close as she and Xu WeiWei, but they were still quite close. Part of the reason the Li's Company grew so much was because of the Fong's network.

She recalled that the He's was one of the old-timers of City S, that is, until He ShuHua, He JianBin's niece, fell for Wang Xiao, the prince of the underworld. She wanted to become his fiancée no matter what. Once she knew of Jiang YaGe, she started to target her. Wang Xiao, who was madly in love with Jiang YaGe, backed Jiang YaGe and set the He's up. Ultimately, he sent many of the He's members to jail. He was then able to pick up most of what was left behind by the He's and became the top dog of City S.

Once again, the romance brain could be very detrimental! For the sake of pleasing Wang Xiao, she even stole some of her family secrets and handed them over to him. She had played a significant role in the fast collapse of the He's.

As for Wang Xiao, Fang JunRong hated his guts. Not only was he the culprit that led to her daughter's death, but he was also a very ruthless person. He had no regard for morals or laws and would do whatever he pleased. He would not hesitate to target anyone who wasn't peaceful with Jiang YaGe. He brought destruction upon several families.

Fang JunRong walked over to He JianBin. Of course, she had no intention to help out Li WangJin at the very least. She was just going to chit-chat with her old friend and inform her to be mindful of certain things. Without the collapse of the He's, Wang Xiao would not be able to come into power smoothly, and she'd have one more alliance on her side.

Looking at her, He JianBin was genuinely surprised. "Your skin is looking even better. Have you been using some kind of magical pills lately?"

Fang JunRong curved her lips upward and said, "Yes, I have been using this new beautifying pill. They are quite effective. I will send you some in a few days."

"Alright." He JianBin wasn't going to turn down her offer. It was evident that the two of them wanted to chat privately. Noticing that, the others left them be and gave them the room to speak alone.

Fang JunRong remembered the novel she had read and asked, "I recall that your family is planning on bidding on a piece of land?"

He JianBin nodded and asked, "Yes, are you bidding on it, too?" She joked, knowing that this would not be possible. After all, the bidding would be starting in a week. It'd be too late for the Li's or the Fang's to jump in.

Fang JunRong lowered her voice and said, "Your niece is Wang Xiao's fiancée, right? Better watch out and not let her know your bottom line."

In her previous life, Wang Xiao was the one who ended up outbidding the He's and winning that piece of land. The He's lost all of their prior investment, a costly defeat.

He JianBin looked more solemn now. She knew Fang JunRong well. She would never have brought this up if she didn't know anything about it. She wanted to go and beat up her niece right away.

Has she lost her mind? If she brought down the He's, what would she have left without her own backing?

She took a deep breath and calmed herself down. She toasted Fang JunRong and said, "Thanks." She was just about to repay her favor by giving her some information, but she saw Fang JunRong putting her finger over her lips, gesturing to her that it would not be necessary.

He JianBin was surprised but didn't share anything in the end. She seemed to recall some rumors about Fang JunRong and Li WangJin recently. She had assumed those rumors were spread by evil people who just wanted to stir things up maliciously. But could they be true?

"You and Li WangJin….?"

Fang JunRong's look was much more distant. "We don't need to talk about him."

He JianBin got the message. The He's had only been helping out the Li's for the sake of Fang JunRong, but looking at her right now; that would not be necessary anymore going forward. Now that they had understood each other, she switched the subject to some fashion show she had watched the previous week and never brought up work again.

Li WangJin, seeing the two chatting and chuckling with each other, felt a sense of relief and was more confident in his conversation with others. He walked over to them with his wine glass in hand.

As far as Sun Mei, who detested Fang JunRong, was concerned, the better Fang JunRong looked, showing no signs of distress, the fouler her own mood. This was particularly the case when her husband completely ignored her and openly brought along his secretary – his new love – today.

When she saw how Li WangJin was nice and tender to Fang JunRong in front of the others, she was so disgusted that she could puke.

Sun Mei had always been the kind who didn't like to see others happy when she wasn't happy herself. In a moment of weakness, she went over to instigate.

She walked over to Li WangJin and put up a very obviously fake surprised look. "Eh, Boss Li came with JunRong today? I thought you would be bringing someone else."

Her tone was hostile, obviously waiting for the drama to unfold.

Fang JunRong couldn't be happier with Sun Mei's timing. She played along with her and put on a doubtful look. "Who else would he bring if not me?"

Sun Mei's smile deepened. "A few days ago, Boss Li had been seen quite a bit with another mother-and-daughter pair. The three of them together looked like a family of three." Sun Mei had no idea about the relationship between Jiang YaGe and Wang SiXian. She assumed they were mother and daughter because they looked like each other. Sun Mei thought the younger one might even be Li WangJin's daughter out of wedlock. She felt even better thinking about that. Her husband might have lovers blatantly, but at least he has never had illegitimate kids.

Fang JunRong frowned at Li WangJin.

Li WangJin was very calm. He had prepared for this moment. Casually, he said, "No, that was YaGe and her aunt. YaGe has been down lately, so I took her to her aunt. I have mentioned that to you before."

Fang JunRong looked like she had just remembered and said, "Oh, that's right. I had forgotten all about it." She turned to Sun Mei and said, "Oh, Sun Mei. You should look into the facts before you pass it along next time. Don't just believe in everything you hear. The ones you were talking about are our adopted daughter and her aunt. We have known each other for years. I know you meant well, but had I not known better, I would think you were trying to instigate purposefully."

Li WangJin, who was almost caught red-handed, hated Sun Mei, who had tried time and again to instigate between him and his wife. He couldn't be bothered with maintaining his usual gentlemanly front. He said coldly, "If you have so much free time, you should spend it on your husband. Don't always try to instigate. That's why Boss Su doesn't like to be around you."

As the adage goes, one should never hit where it hurts the most during an argument. Li WangJin couldn't have said anything worse to Sun Mei. She was so angry that she couldn't throw her wine glass at him. Her teeth grinded together loudly. At that very moment, Li WangJin had successfully replaced Fang JunRong as Sun Mei's most hated person.

At that moment, Sun Mei decided she'd have someone tail Li WangJin 24/7. She wanted to see what he had to say for himself when she had definite proof of him having an affair.

Fang JunRong hadn't expected Li WangJin to maximize Sun Mei's hate level in one go. She was ecstatic. It looked like Sun Mei would become her number one aid in spreading words about Li WangJin in the future. All her instigation wasn't in vain.

As such, Fang JunRong was in a good mood for the rest of the time.

After the banquet, Li WangJin left with Fang JunRong.

On their way back, Li WangJin asked the question he cared about the most, "What did you talk to He JianBin about? Did she give you some insider information?"

Fang JunRong smiled coolly, "No, we just talked about some of the fashion shows this year."

Li WangJin didn't look too happy. "I thought you two are good friends. She wouldn't even give you some information?"

Fang JunRong harrumphed and said, "Exactly because we are good friends, so I wouldn't pry about what she didn't want to share. I am friends with her because we get along, not because of her usefulness." She gave Li WangJin a very disappointed look. "And here I thought you understood about the pure friendship that's between me and her. I can't believe that's how you look at us. You have disappointed me so much."

In the past, Jiang YaGe had always said how she only befriended those she got along with, not so much for what they could bring her. Many praised her as pure and kind.

Fang JunRong realized that as revolting as Jiang YaGe's words were, they worked like a charm against Li WangJin.

Li WangJin was immediately speechless.
