Previlege

Since the mission was completed, Yoshi started her journey to Tokyo Metropolitan High. Although she was near Kyoto, she wanted to use this wound as an opportunity to heal herself with the Reverse Cursed Technique.

While she had theoretical knowledge of the Reverse Cursed Technique, neither she nor anyone close to her could use it.

The only person who knew how to use it had already died. The person she was about to meet would be the second Reverse Cursed Technique user she had ever encountered.

Shiki, who was driving the car, reminded her once more.

"It's not too late. We can go to a nearby hospital to at least get it bandaged."

"No need. Besides, weren't you the one who said I'd rarely have breaks since there are so many curses? Think of it as me trying to catch a break."

"If you put it that way..." Shiki sighed and stopped talking. It was true that Jujutsu sorcerers rarely had time to rest due to the massive imbalance between the number of sorcerers and curses. They were always on some mission.

Yoshi tried to control her cursed energy to generate positive energy. Her control over cursed energy was excellent, and it flowed smoothly. However, beyond that, she couldn't make sense of it. When she clashed her cursed energy against itself, the two forces merely bumped into each other or pushed apart instead of fusing.

She kept trying again and again all the way until she reached Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Shoko Ieiri looked at the duo—an auxiliary manager and a young sorceress—like they were a pair of idiots, her already tired-looking eyes making it even worse for them. She spoke in a monotonous voice.

"You traveled with a severe bruise for nearly a day without any first aid and expect me to magically heal it?"

"Can't you do it? I thought the Reverse Cursed Technique could regenerate even severed limbs. This is just a bruise," Yoshi asked.

Shoko looked at the blindfold on Yoshi and mumbled, "Sigh~ Another blindfolded idiot entered my life."

"Huh? Another?"

Yoshi wanted to ask more about the strange statement, but Shoko didn't entertain her curiosity and instead scolded her.

"You are the patient, and I'm the doctor. Not the other way around. Leaving a bruise untreated for so long isn't good. I can treat you, but you'll need at least 2–4 weeks of rest before fully recovering. And Reverse Cursed Technique has its limitations too. Don't be reckless just because I can regrow limbs."

Yoshi shrugged while the auxiliary manager left with a notice from Shoko. When Shoko began treating Yoshi, Yoshi observed her cursed energy and how she generated positive energy.

Shoko did the same thing Yoshi had attempted—clashing cursed energy with cursed energy—but instead of the forces simply pushing against each other, they fused, creating an entirely different kind of energy.

'Huh? Where is she drawing that second cursed energy from? She's fusing the cursed energy from her stomach with another source that suddenly appears. At least I can confirm that clashing my cursed energy is the right step, but I don't know where the second energy is coming from. It feels foreign, yet not at the same time.'

Yoshi wanted to ask more, but before she could, Shoko gave her anesthesia, and Yoshi felt sleepy.

By the time she woke up, she was in a car, being taken home by another auxiliary manager.

Feeling the bandage around her stomach, Yoshi sighed, thinking about the missed opportunity with Shoko.

"Oh well, I'll study there anyway."

Yoshi opened her bag and looked at the black gloves. Remembering how she had been defeated—even with all these impressive cursed tools—made her feel conflicted about her abilities as a sorcerer.

When the auxiliary manager dropped Yoshi off at her home, he handed her an envelope.

"Shiki told me to give this to you."

Taking the envelope, Yoshi went straight to her grandmother. It was a subconscious habit she had developed whenever she felt lost.

In the yard, Kairi was sipping tea while a glass ball replayed the battle between Yoshi and the reanimated sorcerer.

"That's a great way to start your career. I have to say, you lucked out that it wasn't a Grade 1 or higher cursed spirit."

"Grandma! Stop making fun of me. I don't understand. I was stronger than him and even had so many cursed tools. This doesn't make sense!"

Yoshi sat across from her and whined.

"You're still a child, alright. As for why you lost so badly, it's better for you to realize it on your own rather than me explaining it. Give me one of your gloves."

Yoshi handed over a glove. Kairi emptied the five cursed tools stored inside and set them aside. She then set a 30-second timer on the small clock on the table and walked to the center of the yard.

"Grandma, what are you doing?" Yoshi could tell her grandmother wanted to fight, but considering her old age, she hesitated.

"I'll give you 30 seconds. Make me step away from this spot or at least land a hit on me. Use your full potential. I can handle it. And I've told you many times—I won't die unless I want to. So, nothing will happen to me. Go on."

"Sigh~ Alright."

Knowing it was useless to argue with her stubborn grandmother, Yoshi put on her glove, activated the timer, and stood opposite Kairi.

As the timer started, Yoshi went for a straight punch but switched to a kick at the last moment.

Kairi simply bent down, and suddenly, Yoshi lost her footing.

"Wha—?!"

A pit had formed beneath her in an instant. Before she could react, a punch was already coming toward her.

She quickly summoned a shield from her gloves and blocked the attack.

Noticing Kairi floating on a glass platform, Yoshi equipped a cursed tool that allowed her to jump high.

In mid-air, Yoshi was about to attack with her favorite hammer cursed tool, but Kairi blocked it—and the hammer vanished immediately.

Before Yoshi could react, the alarm clock rang with an ear-piercing sound.

"Your time is up," Kairi commented as she slowly descended and lay down on the grass.

"So, do you understand what's wrong with you?"

Yoshi nodded. "Yes. I'm not using my cursed tools the way they're meant to be used."

"Sort of. But the ultimate issue is that you have too many options, preventing you from fully utilizing any one cursed tool. It's good to have privileges like that, but you saw how the fight went."

Yoshi asked, "So, having multiple weapons is bad?"

"Not necessarily. If you have an overwhelming number of cursed tools to throw at your adversary, it's fine. But when you have just 10 or so, there's no point. You should master one cursed tool and use it to its full potential."

"Then, what about my eyes? They're a cursed tool too, right?"

"So, don't use any extra cursed tools. Anyway, your cursed technique will awaken soon, so there's no point in relying on these tools. Don't scatter your focus in battle by being too diverse. Use what you have effectively."

With that, the lesson was over. That night, Yoshi noted down what she could do and what she couldn't, pondering her grandmother's words.

"Oh, right. There's this."

Yoshi opened the letter from Shiki. The information on Ogami was there, along with details about the bounty on her own head.

"I see… so the bounty was reduced because of Ogami's repeated failures, and she left Japan? So, I'm safe for now."

With that, she tossed the letter into the trash and began thinking about her abilities.

"Let's see… cursed energy reinforcement, barriers, simple domain, shikigami, talismans, Evil Eye, cursed energy release, Black Flash, and cursed corpses. In a fight, reinforcement, shikigami, Black Flash, and simple domain seem the most useful. But cursed corpses… Hmm… What a dilemma."

The next day, Yoshi went straight to Kairi, about to ask her something, but—

"No, you can't use dead bodies of the deceased for cursed corpses," Kairi shut her down immediately.

"But I could create an army of undead cursed corpses!" Yoshi argued.

"Yoshi, if I died tomorrow and an evil sorcerer used my body as a cursed corpse, what would you do?"

"Of course, I'd hurt him badl—Oh! I get it."

Kairi patted her head and explained, "See? You should respect the dead. When someone dies, their body isn't just an empty shell—it holds the memories of their life. That's why we cremate the deceased, and even if they are buried, their remains should be treated with respect."

"Okay~" Yoshi reluctantly agreed.

"Apart from that, the rest of your methods are effective. For now, rely on cursed energy reinforcement, Black Flash, shikigami, and simple domain. It's more than enough—especially at your skill level."
