Chapter 2: Sudden Increase of Stats
"The monster is here, Miss Hunter!"
"Okay, I'm going there, so please get back!"
Hearing that Jayven and the others felt relieved but the monster didn't, either because he understood what was happening or because he sensed danger, he trashed Jayven even harder.
"Bluegh."
Then Jayven vomited blood. Realizing he was confused.
'What happened? The duration should have lasted longer. Why am I feeling pain now?'

As the hobgoblin kept on trashing, Jayven heard a notification. But the monster used all his strength and broke his arm, setting him free.
And at the same time, another notification rang. Making him even more confused than he already is.

'What is this?'
[Skill has exceeded the threshold, beginning its-
"Ugh."
But as he was questioning this in his mind, the Hobgoblin attacked him one last time, knocking him out in the process. leaving his question about the last notification unanswered.

A female Hunter arrived at the scene and saw the damage the monster did as it was escaping.
"Where's the monster?"
"I-it left there....In that direction.
"Thank you."
After getting her answer, she left in a hurry, and not long after the last, the sound of the hobgoblin could be heard.
Then what followed was silence, which signaled the hobgoblin's death.
A while later, a number of people in police uniforms and hunter-equipped individuals came rushing in to check on the storage of corpses to see if there were any left that were still alive.
Luckily, there weren't any casualties. So with everything resolved, Dustin and his senior were taken to the hospital to be checked up.
"So how did this happen?" The woman hunter then asked the manager of Jayven and the others and said.
"I-i don't know. Things happened a-and-." As he was stuttering, he turned his head to the person who was in charge of the dismantling and said some harsh words.
"You! How could you be so irresponsible? How could you let this happen?"
"N-no sir, it was those two's fault they were talking to each other, not checking the corpses before dismantling. R-right guys?"
"Y-yes!"
"Y-yeah I saw that too."
"T-that was definitely their fault."
Afraid of losing his job, he passed the blame on Jayven and his senior. He knows full well the attitude of the manager, seeing as he passed the responsibility to someone else.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, of course."
"Tch." 'What an irresponsible bunch! Clearly, it was them who neglected to check the contents. Anyway, those two were brave enough to stop the HobGoblin from doing further damage; they should be rewarded.'
Seeing their reaction, she, of course, was not buying it and thought of rewarding the two instead.
"Fine then. And then head to the chief of police and to the Hunter association manager."
Seeing this, the two were relieved that she stopped questioning them. And proceeded to do what they wanted, seeing as she was talking to someone at higher authority.
"Miss, thank you for the swift action."
"It was nothing, but more importantly, I want those two brave individuals at the hospital to be treated well, so give them some rewards while you're at it."
"Yes, of course."
"So how was the investigation?"
"There was nothing wrong with the papers, but."
"But what?"
"It is up to debate whether or not it has undergone proper procedure."
"Figures. Well, I'll be going now."
"Thank you for the hard work."
"With that, she left the place, and the two continued their work."
----------Hospital Jayven's Room----------
"Ngh. Where am I?" Looking around, Jayven somehow was not able to comprehend what was going on.
"Is this the hospital? Ow!"
As he was about to get up, he flinched in pain, and there he noticed that he was wrapped in casts and was not able to move properly.
Only then did he remember what had happened.
"Oh yeah, I was beaten to a pulp by that Hob Goblin. This stinks. I won't be able to get my pay this month if I don't heal in time.
Also, what am I going to do with the payment for the hospital? Plus, it seems to be a private room."
He sighed hard as he thought of the bills coming his way and how his dream kept on moving far and far away.
But just as he was despairing about his future, two people came in. And seeing their uniforms, he was surprised and thought of something.
"Huh? Are you from the Hunters Association?"
"Yes, we are."
As he was questioning himself in a daze, one of them answered, which woke him up from his dazed mood.
"Oh! H-hello, my name is Jayven."
"Nice to meet you, Jayven."
"Hello. "
"Nice to meet you too."
"We would like to tell you about the current situation. That happened recently."
"Okay. Ow!"
"It's okay to lie down."
"Thank you."
Hearing that he was about to be asked about the previous incident, he thought of getting up. forgetting he was still injured, resulting in him receiving another painful yell.
After thanking the Hunter Association member, he relaxed his tense body to ease the pain.
"Okay then, we would like to thank you for your bravery during that sudden accident."
The conversation goes on about how they would give him a reward and how they would be paying hospital fees for him.
They also told him that they had visited his senior. And that next time he should not be reckless like this time.
"Thank you for everything."
"No problem, we will be leaving then."
"As they left, he felt even more relaxed."
"To think the problem I was having just now was solved in an instant, not to mention they would give me a reward as thanks. Somehow life just gave me a wonderful blessing.
"As he thought of that, he suddenly remembered that he needs to check his condition. If ever he can be healed fast."
Yeah, I need to check my current state. Haaa, I don't want to see it, but I have no choice. {Status open}.

"What sudden jump?"
"Ahh?!"
"Woah?!"
"Whats wrong?"
"Oh, so it's just you guys, that scared. Or more like, why didn't you knock?"
"Oh, sorry about that; the door was open, so I thought it was okay."
"It is?" Jayven asked as he looked at the door.
'I guess they didn't lock it then.' But after thinking about it, he came to his own conclusion.
"So the people from the Hunters Association visited you, huh?"
"Yeah, or more like, why are you here? Aren't you still injured?"
"Well, my body is stronger than I thought, and they said I can leave the day after tomorrow, so I'm just giving you a heads up because we are packing our stuff that day."
"Oh, that's good that you can leave early, but why are you packing up?"
"Well, we both got fired, including you."
"What?"
Hearing that, Jayven was shocked. 'Why though? We were the victims.' But Jayven only thought about it and did not say it out loud.
Since this wasn't the first time that he was fired from his job for unknown and unreasonable situations.
So after calming down a bit, Jayven was again back in depression, knowing he was going to lose his current part-time job.
"Did they tell you the reason?"
"Yes, they said that we were not careful enough and didn't check the inventory, so we almost endangered our co-workers. And here, look at this message."
When Jayven looked at the message, he was dumbfounded. "They not only fired us with a text but also blamed it on us."
"And they said that they were kind enough not to sue us and just let us off by firing us."
"Those Bastards. It wasn't even our job to check the inventory; we were only there to butcher those carcasses."
"Yeah, they really are too much, right?"
Both Jayven and his seniors kept on cursing at them until they ran out of steam, which was then embarassed at the end seeing as they were witnessed by a boy who had been here since earlier.
"Ehem, well, that's all. We will visit you back after I get my approval for discharge."
"Ehem, Sure."
After they left, Jayven got back to looking at his stats again.
