Chapter 4: Small Goals

'For now, let's act for a bit. Jayven then started to try not to be obvious about his plans, and with a concerned face, he said.'

"Wait, that's bad, isn't it? I will lose my whole summer that way."

"That's right, but thankfully, with the support of the Hunter Association, we can do our best to make it into one month."

Hearing that Jayven's eyes shone like stars. With this, he doesn't need to change his plans. With his mind thinking of making full use of it before the month ends.

'I need to make sure to increase my healing ability before the end of the month. Now that I think about it, isn't this ability worth more than E rank?'

He then thought for a moment, but it didn't take long for him to change his mind.

'Well, who cares? I can take advantage of the situation and improve myself. My dream to become a hunter won't be a dream anymore.'

------------A Month Later-------

Jayven then continued to stay for almost a month until he was finally fully healed. And if it weren't for the fact that he was trying to improve his ability, he would have healed faster.

"Thank you for taking care of me, Dr. Jane."

"No problem; take care and don't do anything reckless, like what you did last time."

"I'll do my best. Goodbye."

Jayven left in a hurry, not entirely promising that he wouldn't be reckless next time.

~~~~~~~~
After Jayven left, Doctor Jane looked at his figure and couldn't help but sigh.
"This kid is seriously going to get himself into danger again if he keeps this attitude of his."
Then a fellow doctor commented on her, seeing her sudden sigh.
"Well, that's how kids these days are. But I am quite surprised that you are supervising him. A Genius such as yourself should be more busy, right?"
"I'd appreciate it if you stopped that; that's a thing of the past. I was just helping today and got bored, so I just looked after the kid."
"But wasting your time on such a talentless kid is quite a horrendous experience, right?"
"Talentless? That kid?" She was pointing in the direction Jayven was headed.
"Yes. Didn't that kid take a whole month to heal, which should have taken less than a week? We even have to use the medium-grade solution. What else could he be called but talentless?"
"Hmm." Thinking thoughtfully, Doctor Jane then muttered in a low voice that even the person with him couldn't hear. "Or maybe he took advantage of the situation."
"Did you say something?" He thought he heard something and wanted to know what she just said.
"Nothing; let's go see other patients, shall we?"
"Okay sure. After all, it is our hospital's blessing to have you work with us, even if it is just for a limited time."
With that, the two continued with their work.
-------------Jayven's Apartment--------------
"Now let's see what I have accomplished with my visit to the hospital."
He then checked his bank account on his smart phone.
In it, an additional 100,000 AC Credits were added out of his original 300,000+ AC credits, making it reach more than 400,000 AC Credits.
The AC stands for Allied Continent Credits, and most people called it ACC.
Seeing this, he was quite happy, as this could alleviate his current condition even if a little bit. The only goal now is to grow stronger with the method he thought at the Hospital.
"Okay, during that time I made a lot of experiments to test out my Skill's abilities. Hopefully all of them worked out well as intended, because this will be my foundation for the future."
_____________
"Nice! Although not much, it only means I can heal by one percent every 1000 seconds, which would take me at least a whole day to fully recover."
Although it can't match up to the effects of healing potions on the market, Jayven can save some and use it when he only needs to.
But he can't always rely on this trait. There are still debuffs and ailments in the world that can cancel this out. So he can only heal when he is in good condition and the debuffs are weaker than the trait's effects.
Even so, he still has a problem: he can't touch his traits, stamina, or mana. If he could, then the possibilities could be endless for him.
Even when he was at the hospital, he tried many things he could do to manipulate it, but the only ways were by manipulating his state or by restricting certain physical attributes.
He tried to see the differences between all of this and later realized that traits and characteristics are fixed personifications of a person, which may be why he can't manipulate them directly.
But others, like his physical attributes and buffs shown in his state, can be manipulated. So why can he still manage to improve it despite the limitations?
It can only be attributed to one thing, and that is that his body is most likely mutating, making it adapt to the improvements he currently has.
"For starters, I need to write down my plan and collect data on the internet to finalize my training program."
He then started to plan out what path he should take. Currently, he mainly focuses on close-range fights based on what he sees in his stats.
But the road to being an all-rounder might not be so bad. He still looked for tread posts, videos, and other research that could help him on his path.
And after grueling days of research, he finally built the training program he wanted.
The main focus here is his AGI and DEX. He learned that weapon mastery and movements help hunters survive the most. Also, this could open up many options for him.
Next up is his STR. He needs to have strong damage to finish defeating his opponents and, if possible, deal a one-strike hit.
Next is INT, mainly to attain great focus in any possible situation and to open up a path for magic systems. Since it will be something they will need to learn once he graduates and applies to College Institutions.
This plan is not without reason. Magic usage and application are dangerous, so supervision and approval are needed when using them. Well, it's not like rich people will be affected by these rules, though.
Then lastly, VIT. It will be tricky to train this one because not only does it align with stamina, but it also has to do with a strong defense. The plan here is to really take a beating, and he already has enough of it during and after school.
"This is my last school year here, so I want to make full use of my time. And enrolling in a school in another city is the best option for me. I need a school that has great facilities and, if possible, it doesn't have any discrimination."
With everything ready, he started working on his plan the next day.
"Ever since I received the notice that I was fired, I have thought really hard about what to do to gain more money. In the end, I could only thought of hunting outside."
There are monsters outside the city, and hunting them is a good way to make money.
Ever since they were bestowed the skill, they were first asked if they wanted to register to be hunters.
And without thinking about it too much, Jayven just rolled with it and said yes. So ever since then, he has had a hunter's license.
It was also at that time that he learned the effects of his skills and how useless they were; he almost endangered the group he was with, at that time.
But now it's different. Clenching his arms tight, he stood up.
"I will make my dreams come true. So first I need to raise my stats to hunters above-average stats."
------------------
Stamina - 100/100
Mana - 100/100
STR - 30
VIT - 30
INT - 30
AGI - 30
DEX - 30
Seeing the forum, he was a bit discouraged; it was twice, if not three times, his current stats. But he won't be Giving up now.
"For now, let's set my goal for a month and see if I can achieve the needed stats for it."
So for starters, he set his agility and dexterity to 80% of their original attributes. Later on, he would change the attributes to adjust in every training.
