Chapter 39: Cursed Possession

Possession undergoes many forms it happens due to certain circumstances. There is a skill like this and there is also a time that monsters have the ability to possess humans an example of this is a ghost-type monster.

As for certain circumstances weapons can take over a human. One of the reasons is that a weapon has a will of its own, forcing the user to fight for the ownership of both the weapon and the body.

But in this situation, right now this is what is happening to the man before them. And if by any chance it is cursed the user will go mad without thinking.

But the cursed artifact of the demon king is a combination of both. It has a will of its own and it is also cursed due to the certain characteristic of demons.

"This is unexpected from what I know there are certain restrictions placed on 72 cursed artifacts once they are first retrieved and the only way to release the will of the weapon is to release its third restriction."

"We are talking about the group of demon activists. Do you think they will not do anything to gain power?"

"Then this person is using a cursed artifact at its third release of restriction?"

"So what? It doesn't change anything I just need to beat it fast."

"Hoho what an interesting lass you don- eh? You are already at that stage? Impossible, this body is far from that stage, Huh the people around you are also about to reach it."

Confusion was written on the face of the man being possessed by the cursed artifact when he looked at the people in its surroundings.

But later he laughed while pointing at the crystal gem around them.

"Ahahaha, So that's it the reason for this is those devices you are using to advance faster huh?"

He said pointing to the body it possessed.

"This is really amusi-."

Not being able to continue its words it flew far away by a sudden attack.

"This bastard I was being patient since I felt a tinge of danger but it is still skin and bones, I can just kill it."

"Ehe, ehehehehe."

"It is still standing."

"But it's body."

They then saw the possessed man standing with a twisted and bleeding body.

"As I thought you don't care much about your owner as long as it's weaker than you it's yours."

"Heh, that's how it is. Weak crawls the strong stands."

"Then I guess you won't have to worry about being the one in the ground then."

"Bring it on."

Then Chris attacked the possessed man knowing that she wouldn't be able to save everyone when it was still blocking their path.

And as the battle between Chris and the possessed man occurred. Another battle happened inside the Dark Veil, and it was between Jayven and Clayton against the whip-using man.

A few minutes earlier the two started the battle against the man.

The first thing that happened was Clayton charging first battling it out with him. The man then waved his whip making a fast movement that covered his whole area.

But Clayton just sped through as though he was facing a slow attack. And as he got closer, he slammed his fist on him.

Blocking it the man was pushed a few steps away.

"Heh to think I would meet a monster who is already at the mana intent stage what a treat."

Hearing that made Jayven understand so that is why I felt that when I was fighting against him earlier, he had more leeway, so he was already miles away from me.

The fight goes on and it seems as though they are at an equal exchange but Jayven didn't think so.

'Clayton is slowly losing momentum. I guess I will have a turn, huh? For now, let's stop thinking about our differences in strength and assist him in this battle.'

Then at the right time, Clayton was forced to take a step back. At that moment Jayven made a move and attacked the man right in his blind spot.

And as though expecting it he casually moved to avoid it. Not wanting to give him a breather Jayven followed my attacks with a few combos.

But he still was able to avoid it, then he swung his whip to Javyen. Seeing this Jayven blocked the attack which he followed with more along with it he said to me.

"That was close, or was it?"

Mocking Jayven for wasting a chance to hit him he grew overconfident, Not wanting to miss a chance again Jayven caught hold of his whip at the right time.

"You think you caught me think again."

Pulling the whip, he tried to get me near him, but was unable to, for he realized a mistake he made so he tried to block the incoming attack from Clayton whom he momentarily forgot.

"Guh!" Then he slammed into the wall of the ruins.

"Heh that's a good one Jayven. And as thanks, I am gonna show you something good."

Saying that he dashed to the man who just stood up.

Not wanting to get hit again the man took some distance and attacked with his whip in a disordered manner.

During this time Jayven realized Calyton's movement.

'He is using Mountain Tiger Claw; no this is different.'

Realizing the technique Jayven thought he was using the same as his but later denied it as it is incorporated in a different way.

But something made Jayven think again realizing the uncanny similarities it had with his Mana technique.

"What's up old man can't keep up?"

"Heh, I am just warming up brat. Plus, I am not that old yet I am still in my twenties!"

The man then threw knives in Clayton's direction, but as though he was possessed by a wild beast Clayton grabbed the knives in swift motion with his arms feet, and teeth.

"You are one crazy kid." The man didn't light up and kept attacking Clayton.

At this moment Jayven realized something about mana techniques and the usage of Mountain Tiger Claw.

'That's right mana techniques aren't just made for their basic use only. I remember now Master Klein told me to train in the basic mana techniques more. It wasn't because I am not yet qualified to use high-ranking techniques but he wants me to incorporate it in a way basic mana techniques are being improved by the common populace.'

Understanding this gave Jayven a starting point for what he would do with his mountain tiger claw.

"Thanks for this Clayton, this helped me a lot. Here I go."

With great gusto, he started to attack with Clayton cornering the man even more.

"What the-?" The man was shocked as he twisted his body to dodge Jayven's attack.

Using the shadow leopard steps as the base Jayven moved swiftly in an unnoticeable manner reaching for an attack. Even if it was dodged it still gave their enemy some pressure.

Although He still using it for the first time Jayven was successful in getting near their enemy and forcing him to the defensive.

"Not bad, although you are still immature you are able to adjust it just fine. Now let me show something else."

Clayton clearly in a good mood gave compliments to Jayven. Then he did a new move that clearly shows his true strength befitting a mana intent user.

Concentrating his mana on his arms it started to form an illusionary claw. And with it, he swung it down the man.

"Gahah!" Not being able to defend on time the man then took a direct hit making him fly in a distance.

"Amazing I guess this is what those at the Mana Intent stage can do."

As explained mana mastery has stages. The mana bearer stage makes one able to release mana and use it in the most basic form.

The mana user stage is the control of mana. While the Mana intent is the solidification of mana making it tangible.

And this is what Clayton did he made his mana into a weapon for his attack. As long as it adheres to what he can achieve the tangibility can be quite lethal to anyone facing it.

So, the man being hit by it would have received a huge blow, that will give him a dangerous side effect.

And as though telling us it wasn't enough the man emerged from the rubble.

"You've done it now!"

"This bastard wasted his future."

"Eh, what do you mean?" Confused Jayven asked why he said that.

But before Clayton could answer the man's whip became even more longer and sinister.

He then swung it at them with great force and this time Jayven and Clayton weren't able to react.

The attack was a lot faster and more numerous than before they were not able to do anything.

Later the two received many attacks to the point they were beaten to the ground.
