The representative turned to face the anxious mayor, his stern gaze locking onto the official. "Mayor, are you absolutely certain that these are the best candidates your town has to offer?"

The mayor, his palms moist with anxiety, responded with a hurried nod. "Yes, sir, these individuals represent the cream of our town's talents. They are the pride of our community, and we believed they had what it takes."

The representative's expression remained indifferent as he continued to survey the disappointed faces of the contestants. His eyes fell upon the mayor, and he inquired further, "Tell me, Mayor, how were these candidates selected? Were there any specific criteria they had to meet?"

The mayor shifted uncomfortably, struggling to find an explanation. "Well, sir, we had a panel of judges from our town assess their abilities, their potential as Celestial candidates. We thought their dedication and power were enough to impress."
