Not a Person, A Cat

"Can you see me as a man?" The voice seemed to echo into the early morning darkness, eventually swallowed by the commotion and activities of the other bodies sharing the same courtyard.

"Can you see me as a man?" Min asked once more, his hand on the little ger growing damp and sweaty. 

He didn't mean to blurt it out the first time, yet he still repeated the question a second time. Midwife Lee's last comment had struck a cord in him. The ripples were still fluttering from the point of impact.

Min could verbally spar with most and dominate when it came to mind games with others. It came quite easily to him. He was born with a smooth tongue. He was able to talk his way out of any situation as a child. It was what kept the abandoned child alive until Master Jian had found him.
