Chapter Three

Rex pov

It's another smooth day, where I sign some documents and look over the packs work and help when needed. Justin is handling training for the day, we like to interchange work between the three of us. I am handling the looking after the people while Den is out to the human world.

I also have to go to the border patrol and make sure everything is okay. To tell the truth the break in did freak me out a bit considering the last breaking in was years ago. The fact that a rouge kid managed to bypass three sections out of five with ten guards at each section is freaking crazy.

This is the furthest any one has been able to break into our pack. Considering how organized and detailed our border patrol is which does make it the best in the land makes me a little jumpy.

I did deal with the situation making sure everything is on lockdown and nobody can get through our security system and now everything is going smoothly. Basil Is with me for the day because in his exact words,"I don't want to be around Justin when he is being all sexy." I am his other choice considering he is terrified of Den which is crazy cause Den can be a decent person sometimes, when he wants to be.

I mean I do get why Basil is kind of scared of Den considering how their first introduction was like. Basil met Den when Den was very much naked and coved in blood from head to toe.

Den's eyes were blood red, he was heaving and growling loudly because he had just wolfed out and he had not came out to those senses yet. Basil screaming bloody murder did set him off. Basil decided on the worst plan which was running, Den's best action was to hunt him which was undeniably stupid.

It's still the funniest shit I've seen to this day. Basil running hands in the air crying and screaming in Spanish, Den following after him growling. Den was not going to hurt him even though he was not fully himself. Am pretty sure it started with Dens reflex, you know as a wolf you see a deer you just try and hunt it down.

After a couple of minutes it was Den being funny and mean. I do get that Basil had no idea that Den was joking, I would scream in fear too if I saw a creature like that. Who knew your best friend's ass being out would make your week.

After an hour of trying to calm Basil down, Justin explained to him that Den was just hunting in the forest and was really messy with it. Den did give Basil a smile which is a big deal because Den does not interact with people he does not know in a positive way.

Justin was mad at us even though he found the whole situation comical, he did not leave Basil alone with us for five months after that. Basil has never been able to get over it.

Den should have returned by now from the checking the portal. The portal connects us to the human world. The Lakemoon pack has authorization over the portal because it is closest to us and in our boundary. Which makes it easier for us make sure everything is okay and safeguarded. Den was supposed to make sure the guards put near the portal were okay and whatever they need we provide.

I head to his room in the pack house, he still lives here even though he built his own house. He said he built it with his own hands because he needed to keep himself busy and keep his bad thoughts at bay. I am pretty sure he also did that so that he can brag about it.

He does not live there because he has no one to stay with, someone to turn it into a home with. I made a joke that we could have sleepover , didn't even crack a smile.

On the way there, I meet a lot of people who bow in respect and I respond with a nod of the head. I get to his very secluded room only to find it without doors. He does this a lot when he has big feelings he rips out the doors and I have to put it back together.

I enter his room only to find that he is not here yet. His room is very organized everything is in it's place ,he is a very clean guy sometimes I think he's a germaphobe but remember him covered in blood and the thought is out the window.

After a couple of minutes I hear big thunderous steps heading this way. Here comes Denny. He gets into his room and punches the wall multiple times. All I can do is take a couple of deep breaths.

"What's up with the freaking door, I have fixed it like five times now. You also just broke the vase I bought you and it makes me feel like am being targeted." I say making myself known.

"What do you want Alpha!" He says with a lot of attitude.

"I wanted information about the portal but since you are being very moody ,I am going to give you some time to yourself. You know what, since am your friend am going to ask and I expect a nice answer. What's going on with you? "

Den is a pretty chill dude, always keeps to himself. He does have one facial expressions at all times but he rarely gets angry. Don't get me wrong he is always irritated but not mad. So this is worrying for me to see him this mad.

"I found my mate." He answers with irritation in his voice.

"You found your mate, this is good news right? She is going to turn that scowl upside down." This is really good news it increases my chances of finding a mate.

"I lost her. She was there and then she wasn't."he explains.

" Den that's not how that works okay she is out there you just have to find her." I try to reason with him.

" No! No, you don't understand. She is absolutely gorgeous Rex. She was was so damn beautiful, she looked like she was glowing. She was perfect until I realized that she is human and I was disappointed that the moon goddess would give me a human of all creatures as a mate. Then she was gone, the moon goddess took her back." He says in tears
