Chapter 29

Robert’s chamber door had barely closed when a deep, measured knock echoed through the hallways. The sound carried an air of command that left no room for delay. Moments later, the head warrior strode into the corridor outside Lord Herod’s private chamber. His armor clinked with each purposeful step and his expression was set in grim determination, more like he's still annoyed by Robert's presence maybe.

He paused at the door before knocking sharply. “My lord, the head warrior has arrived,” he announced with his tone which sounded both respectful and resolute.

Inside, Lord Herod sat behind an imposing desk, lit only by the flickering light of a solitary candle. His eyes were cold and calculating, met the sound of the knock. “Enter,” he commanded in a voice that left no room for argument.
