Prologue - A New World

William's eyes widened with delight when he come in contact with a crystal of mysterious origin on a treasure-hunting hike in the woods with his friends. A flash of white light fills his vision and he passes out...

When he came to, he found himself in a cave that he does not recognize. The cave looks like a small temple, with columns supporting a high dome ceiling, with symbols of what looks like magic carved into the stone.

He realized that he can still feel the crystal against his skin and looked down to find it still clasped in his hand.

As he made his way through the cave, he paused to take in his surroundings. He noticed that the room he was in was rather small, yet comfortable and cozy. In the center of the room, he saw a bed covered with a warm quilt and a small nightstand near the bed containing a pitcher of water and a few books.

He made his way over to the bed and sat down, and enjoyed the comfortable mattress and blankets. He took a moment to look at the books that were sitting on the nightstand and noticed that they were both historical fiction novels as well as instruction manuals on using magic.

He flipped open one of the instruction manuals and perused the first few chapters. As he read, he discovered that magic is used by focusing the flow of energy known as mana to cast spells. The energy is gathered from the world around us and can be redirected to achieve a variety of effects, such as lighting candles or forming fireballs.

However, mana is limited, so it is important to conserve energy and use it wisely when it is needed the most. The manual goes on to explain that there are two main types of magic: offensive and defensive, both of which require different techniques and levels of skill.

After reading the manual for a while, he found himself feeling a bit tired. He decided it was time for him to rest.

As he climbed onto bed, he found himself starting to fall asleep. However, just as he drifted off into a blissful slumber, he was awoken by a scream followed by a crash coming from somewhere else in the cave. He quickly rose to his feet, alarmed by this strange occurrence, and went off to investigate.

He moved cautiously through the dark cave, not knowing what he's going to find or what sort of danger might await him.

As he made his way through the darkness, he began to hear whispers echoing through the corridors of the cave. He strained his ears, trying to make sense of what he was hearing, but the words are too faint to make out, and the whispers quickly fade away.

Suddenly, he saw a dim light at the end of a nearby hallway and he made his way towards it. As he approached the source of the light, he saw a lone figure standing in front of him. Upon seeing him, the other person rushed towards him, yelling in a panicked voice.

Without time to react, he was assaulted by the unexpected figure, who grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him vigorously. With both hands still on him, the figure held his face and turns his head in their direction, staring intensely into his eyes.

After a few moments, the figure's grip on William loosened and he stepped back slightly out of their reach. As he made some space between the two of them, he realized that the figure was a young woman with long, wavy blonde hair and blue eyes. She looks just as confused as he was about the strange circumstances that have brought him here.

The young woman then leans in towards William and whispers into his ear, "We need to get out of here." While they were running, William stumbled on a protruding stone and hit his head. He lost consciousness.
