A Bit More Than I Expect

Kaido walked me through the building which was supposedly to be the base of the builder faction. It was a simple tour around the place, as he showed me the main building, the workshop, the storage room, and other places.

As we walked through the main building, he pointed out a few places like where the bedrooms are and the kitchen and such.

It wasn't as big and had more facilities than the adventurer faction base is but this place itself is sufficient, it's not like this place would be the center of the faction or anything.

While I was looking around the main building, Kaido explained the basic things about the place like the rules and stuff. It's different than that I have to follow them all of the time but he does remind me to follow the basic rules of the place.

"Alright, we're done. So do you have any questions?"

"Nope, I'm good."

"Then let's head to the room which would be yours then." He said that.

But at that moment, I think I saw someone moving behind him in the hallway. It was someone familiar and I recognized that person. It's not like I know them directly but that was Kaido familiar, the wyvern maid, Eleifa.

She shouldn't be here? I mean she's a familiar, a maid that should only appear when Kaido summons her.

As she walked down the hallway, she suddenly noticed both Kaido and me as she turned to face us.

"I see you've been busy Master. It's nice to see you back so early, I wasn't expecting to see you here. And who is this person standing next to you?" She said that as she was staring at me.

"Ahh, Eleifa, I was showing a new member around the faction. He just joined the faction and I was just giving him a tour."

"Oh, I see. So, he's a new member huh, well that's good news." She said that as she turned to me, "I am glad that we finally have someone new here. Nice to meet you, I'm Eleifa, and I'm the wyvern maid working for Master Kaido."

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Eleifa."

"Same goes for you."

I am quite confused about what actually happening here. Like how can a summonable familiar be outside here? Like her being here would just drain Kaido MP like crazy.

"So Kaido, can I ask a question?"

"Hmm? Go ahead, ask away."

"I am quite confused about how can Eleifa be here. Like shouldn't she be a summoned familiar and she shouldn't be here? Plus, isn't summoning her would take a lot of your mana?"

"Ah! I see why you are confused by that, I mean you are pretty new after all. Let me explain. You see, the deleted character was removed from the main system of the game. This means, that some of the game mechanics don't work as it should be. In other words, the summoning ability is one of the examples."

"I see, but don't some of the game thingy work? Like some skills do still require MP, and it would be pretty OP if you could summon familiar without using any mana."

"True. But we still require to use mana to summon our familiar..." Kaido continues to explain further about this sort of stuff. And making sure that I would understand it fully.

It took me several minutes to absorb all of the info that he was given.

So, to recap, the summoning is still a thing, but you do still have to spend mana on summoning your familiar. The only thing that did change was how like us, the deleted character isn't able to connect to the main system of the game anymore.

The summon familiar couldn't be sent back to the place it should be once it was summoned. This means the system takes care of the familiar data, as their data are deleted as well along with the deleted character.

So the summoner was granted a new skill, a skill that was actually hidden by the game itself.

That was to set a place to store the familiar within that set area. The familiar could roam around and wouldn't cost the player any MP. As long as the familiar is within that set area.

The skill is called, 'Set Home Marker' all because…

Mostly summoner class deleted characters would use this skill and cast it onto their own room or onto where the respective deleted characters live.

This way the familiar wouldn't have to roam around aimlessly. And if the deleted character has the skill, they would be able to summon the familiar from anywhere.

Though if the familiar does leave that set area, the player's MP would begin to be drained. That is until the player recasts the spell and marks a new area or goes back to the previous area.

"I see and is the place where you live, is the marker?"

"Yes, it was, so that's why Eleifa could roam around and you could say that she's living here with all of us," Kaido said.

"Oh, I see, that explains why there's a lot of room-" I suddenly pause for a bit because I realize there's something that I feel a bit off with what Kaido had just said. "But can I ask a question?"

"Sure, go ahead."

"You said all of us? Do you imply that there's other than me, you, and Eleifa living here?

"Yep, there are like 7 more people here living in this base. They're all good people, so you can count on them. So it's a relief to know that you won't be alone here." He said that.

Knowing that I am the only member of this faction. It makes me think that the other remaining people that live here must be familiar. But to make sure what I assume is correct, I asked him a question.

"Are the 7 people that live here yours familiar Kaido? If so, then you must have a lot of familiar."

"Yeah, there are my familiar. Do you not feel comfortable about this? I could- wait, do you have a problem with having my familiar around? You seem a bit off with it." He said that.

"No, it's not like I have a problem. I'm just surprised that's all." I said that. "Also It just has more people than I initially expect. That's all."

"Is that so, sorry if I surprise you with this. Also, I can tell my familiar to not disturb you, is that ok with you?"

"It's fine, I'm used to it. Also, you can just ignore what I just said. Like you said, you're familiar is good people and I'm sure that we could be great friends." I said that to Kaido.

I really thought that it would be lonely for her but it seems like I am clearly wrong about that one. It's gonna be a bit more lively than I expected but that itself is a good thing.

Although they are just familiar, the AI of this game itself is really good and it does make you question sometimes. Whether they are being controlled by real people or not, people do debate about it sometimes in the game forum.

And with the conversation that I had with Eleifa just now, their AI doesn't seem to be affected that much.

So it's safe to say that they retain the best feature in the game even if we are disconnected from the main system itself.

But one thing is for sure, that Kaido itself is a pretty powerful summoner. He has 8 familiars and that itself is quite a feat.

Like in the game itself, a summoner usually only has 2 familiars. For someone to obtain more than 5 is pretty much hard to do.

That's why I somehow beginning to believe that the legends that spread regarding him must be true to some extent. Like that's why he became a faction leader and survived the era when the town didn't exist yet.

As I was thinking about all of the stuff in my head.

Kaido then said something, "How about I called all of the residents that live here first before showing your room."

"Sure, why not."

And so, we waited for a bit as we stood in the hallway.

It didn't take long for the remaining 7 residents of the house to gather around. I guess Kaido must have notified all of his familiar to be present here because he wanted to introduce all of them to me.

To be honest, I am pretty much excited about meeting all of them.

And when I finally saw the remaining 7 residents, I was pretty much surprised to see all of them. All of the remaining familiars appear to be in a humanoid shape, which means that they have evolved into their highest state.

I was pretty much in awe when I saw all of them. It made me realize that Kaido's title as the faction leader isn't something to take lightly at all.
