In the end, Nicholas averted his eyes, nodding at the woman standing in front of him. He knew what he should do. Although he didn't know the details, he was sure that the dead woman should have done something worthy of making his wife angry enough to argue.
He was about to return to his room and get his laptop when Abigail stopped him.
"Wait…" Abigail walked over and held his wrist firmly, lowering her head. She was still trembling. "Can… Can I stay in your room?"
By this incident alone, it was clear that she was too dependent on her husband emotionally. Whenever she was utterly frightened and depressed, the only person she would want to see was Nicholas. Although she herself hadn't realized this.
Even the man himself didn't realize this fact and nodded, thinking she was probably tired of standing for too long, and this small incident must have added to her injury. Maybe he should try and act like a better human being.
