"Did you miss me?"
My brother's smile was beaming, brighter than the midday sun. I couldn't help but glance at the late-night snack in his hand, ignoring his playful teasing.
"Don't act so indifferent, girl. You have spent days alone here, haven't you?"
Since he bought all my favorite late-night snacks tonight, I went to the kitchen to get utensils for him.
"Thanks for the food, anyway." I put the forks on the table.
When I turned around, I saw him holding the cat in his arms and rubbing its head wildly.
Oh, no! I yelled in my heart.
"Cookie, you look so slim," he told the cat.
Grinning foolishly, he lifted the cat high and shook it playfully from side to side.
.
I wondered if Johnson's reaction if he knew the cat was Aaron, his graduate tutor.
When he approached me with the cat, I was so scared that my heart almost jumped out of my chest.
Aaron wouldn't transform in front of my brother, would he? I winced at the thought.
