After the engagement, my relationship with Cillian eased up a little.
In front of others, we could be considered a loving couple.
But the good times weren't here to stay. My movements behind his back allowed him to notice something amiss quickly.
I came back from the hospital one day.
Cillian sat in the living room, smoke rising from his fingertips.
He rarely came back so early.
There was an eerie silence in the whole villa.
"Aiden is asleep."
He crossed his legs and rested his chin on his hand as he looked at me.
"How is it going? What did you find?"
My efforts did not fool him.
"It's all your fault that Joshua has become like this."
I tore up the illusion of peace.
He sneered. "Didn't you already know?"
"If he was rescued in time, he wouldn't have become a vegetable at all!"
"Cillian, you've killed him twice!"
"Right. I did it." He admitted.
I felt a chill run down my spine.
In the beginning, he had no intention of saving Joshua.
