The Tragedy of Fate

My boss must know that I was eating the customer's leftovers, but he didn't say anything about it.

He took pity on me. I was twenty-one, uneducated, five feet three inches tall, and only 88 pounds. All in all, I looked like I was still a high school student.

My boss would also give me some leftovers, but I never took them home as I knew Benjamin would despise them.

In fact, I knew he more or less despised me.

In the steakhouse, I often heard couples accompanying each other to class at university, but Benjamin never once allowed me to follow him to class.

He never introduced me to his classmates, either.

I must be crazy. Why was I thinking so much?

I liked Benjamin. It didn't matter if he liked me back as long as I was by his side.

I was willing to bear the hardships and make sacrifices for him.

I assumed our simple lives would continue for a long time. Benjamin had promised to marry me once he graduated.
