I returned from work to find the Daniel family feasting in the living room. Irene looked at me haughtily and ordered me to clean up after them. She also reminded me that I owed them 100 dollars for the toilet repair.

Irene gestured at the food scraps and sauce stains on the floor as if they were not the result of their own gluttony.

I felt a surge of anger at her imperious tone.

I couldn’t believe she wanted me to clean up their mess and unclog their toilet. That was so rude and unreasonable.

But Irene claimed that I was violating the rules of co-living and that we all had to share the responsibility of maintaining the common areas and facilities.

I was about to explode at their audacity.
