I giggled. But seeing it was six o'clock in the morning, I returned to reality, thinking it should be a hoax. I had no time to sleep, so I hurriedly got up and went to the company for the meeting.

The meeting had lasted for two hours from seven to nine, and I had almost fallen asleep in the conference room.

After it finally ended, I returned to my work desk and started my arduous work again, thinking my life would be like this every day. I was anxious about my mother's illness while working, so I made a few mistakes. Seeing the frequent bugs when I ran the program, I was so angry that I wanted to smash the computer!

After a long day, I was exhausted. When I was having dinner, my sister called me again and asked if I had borrowed any money. She had borrowed one thousand dollars from some relatives. She was sensible, so she wanted to share my burden. But a thousand dollars was just a drop in the bucket.

After comforting her, I thought of Paradise Game. One day had passed, but I had not received any missions.

Sure enough, it was a scam.

I should not have believed it!

I continued to work overtime. While checking the codes, I cheekily tried to borrow money from my classmates and colleagues. However, I didn't get a dime and suffered a lot of contempt and ridicule!

And I was disheartened after knowing how indifferent the world was.

I rubbed my brows and looked at my colleagues mechanically tapping on the keyboards. Then, I looked at the bustling road and cold city outside the window, wondering whether the people here would show a hint of care for me if I jumped off the building now.

I smiled bitterly and walked out of the company's door.

Ding!

When my phone suddenly rang, I unlocked it in a daze. Seeing the message, I instantly woke up with a start!

“Dear game player, this is your first mission. Please touch the face of your pretty colleague who sits beside you within 2 minutes.”

The colleague who sat next to me was indeed a beauty named Daisy. She was 5.7 feet tall and was a clerk responsible for programmers’ data communication and work transfer.

But was it a game mission? It was too simple!

I walked back to my desk, sat down, and glanced at Daisy who was staring at the computer screen when sending emails. Looking down at my mobile phone, I saw a countdown on the screen!

Thirty seconds, twenty-nine, twenty-eight, twenty-seven, twenty-six...

I knew I must act, so I made up an excuse, reached out to touch her cheek, and said, "There is a pen mark on your face."

Daisy glanced at me in surprise, took out a mirror to look at her face, and murmured, "There is no pen mark."

I chuckled, "Really? I must have seen it wrong. I stayed up late last night, so my eyes blurred."

Daisy seemed to have realized something, so she gave me a hard look and continued her work. When I looked at my phone, the countdown program was gone. Soon, I got a message from the bank.

Someone had transferred ten thousand dollars into my account!

Damn!

I could not believe it! It was easy to make money like this!

I looked forward to the next task because I had made ten thousand dollars by completing such an easy task. If I finished ten tasks a day, I would make a fortune soon!

After I completed more tasks and made enough money to pay my mother's medical expenses, I would send all the money to my sister.

I quickly asked Kara out for dinner and lied to her that I had received my salary and overtime pay. I booked a table in an expensive restaurant that I had wanted to try but had not been able to afford and spent more than a thousand dollars on buying her Chanel perfume.

When we were shopping, she frequently took out her mobile phone and sneakily sent messages, making me uneasy. And I felt her perfume smell familiar.

Strangely, she was not surprised or pleased by my well-prepared meal or perfume.

When we were having dinner, she said she must leave after receiving a message.

I stopped her and said, "Where are you going? I asked for leave for you. Can't you accompany me?"

She anxiously said, "No, there is something urgent at work, so I must go. Can’t you understand me? I will be busy for the next few days, so I may have no time to accompany you. But I will give you a surprise a week later!"

After Kara left, I decided to pay the bill and go back to the company to wait for my next task.

But I was dumbfounded when the waiter told me Kara had already paid.

Kara and I had just graduated from college. I was a programmer, so my salary was slightly higher. She was a receptionist in a small company and earned less than four thousand dollars a month. After paying the rent and living expenses, she could save at most eight hundred dollars a month if she did not get sick.

How could she have the money to pay for the meal?

Just now, she had worn a weird perfume and looked flustered and anxious when frequently looking at her phone. So, I realized there was something wrong with her.

Suddenly, a middle-aged man in a suit walked over with a fashionably dressed pretty woman. He took her hand and asked, "When will you break up with your boyfriend?"

His words immediately cast a huge shadow over my heart!

Was Kara cheating on me?

After I went back to my rental apartment with a heavy heart, I had a hard time. I had not received the new task, but my sister was urging me to borrow money. And because I thought Kara had cheated on me, I felt tight in my chest and even had difficulty breathing!

When I made it to the fourth day with difficulty, Gail was finally stung by conscience and paid my wage and bonus in arrears on Thursday. I had few thousand dollars left in my account, so I had thirty thousand dollars in total now!

After transferring the money to my sister, I received the second mission from Paradise Game.

“Dear player, here is the second game task. Please take a sneak shot of Gail's thighs within 5 minutes.”

Then, the countdown began.

I quickly picked up a document and knocked on Gail's door. Gail was even taller than Daisy. She was sitting at her desk in a sexy short skirt and stockings. In the name of reporting work, I stood in front of her. While explaining the program’s problems, advantages, and future troubles we might have in the upgrade, I successfully took a picture of her slender legs!

Mission completed!

One minute later, I received one hundred dollars in my bank account!

Hiss.

I was so excited that I almost fainted!

I returned to my work desk, then sneaked into the lavatory, and checked my bank account again. Yes! I had not seen it wrong! I had received as many as one hundred thousand dollars!

I had never seen so much money in my bank account since birth!

I had made a fortune!

It felt good to make money so easily and quickly.

I clenched my fists in excitement and yelled in the lavatory, celebrating for myself!

Then, I called my sister. I had money, so I was confident now. Unexpectedly, she answered the call after only one beep and cried, "The money is not enough! Mom's diagnosed with renal failure. The doctor said I should have brought her to the hospital earlier. Now, the only way to save her is a kidney transplant. Otherwise, she will die. Now, there happens to be a kidney available, but it will cost six hundred thousand dollars! Can you come back? I’m scared."

The news came as a big blow. Wasn’t my mother just suffering from diabetes? Why had it become a renal failure?

Kidney failure? Six hundred thousand dollars?

After earning one hundred thousand dollars, I had thought I could solve all the problems in my life. But the money was not even enough to pay for my mother's medical expenses now!

"Don't be afraid. I can't go back now because I must make money to pay the medical expenses. You can count on me! I will transfer one hundred thousand dollars to you right now!"

"Why do you have so much money?" My sister said in surprise, "You must not do illegal things!"

"Don't worry, everything I did is legal!"

Six hundred thousand dollars!

I loosened my tie. The joy of earning one hundred thousand dollars was gone. And I began to worry about my mother's illness again.

I clenched my fists again in frustration instead of celebration.

I had no interest in working now because my income here could not solve my big trouble. I was broke, and my pockets were empty. I needed a lot of money!

I desperately needed the next game mission!
