I was too dumbfounded to move.

"I... I didn't know it was you..." I clutched my bag and said, "I can take the bus..."

"You need a driver, don't you? Why can't it be me?" He put his hand on the car door and turned round. "Besides, you're Carol's younger sister, so you're like my sister too. It's no big deal."

I still didn't move. He walked over, took the bag from my hand, and turned to go to the car.

"If we leave now, we can get there before nightfall. I don't want to drive at night."

"Get in the car," he ordered.

I bit my lip and sat down in the passenger seat.

It was my most difficult five hours ever.

Edward did not speak much along the way. I was embarrassed and nervous.

The songs he was playing were the same ones that I used to listen to when I was still his wife.

They had been my favorites, but now they were giving me a headache.
