It was getting dark. Oliver and I went home together. As soon as I arrived home, I contacted Ivanka.
After hesitating for a while, I said, "I want to meet Helen."
Ivanka was silent. After a while, she said with hesitation, "Well, that's OK. Two days later, a classmate from high school will have a wedding ceremony. Helen has been invited to it. She will definitely attend the ceremony. But..."
"But what?"
"But the bride is Juliette Wilson," said Ivanka helplessly. "In fact, when she sent me the invitation, she knew that you were still in your hometown and hadn't gone back to Connellsville, but it seemed that she didn't want to invite you at all."
Now I understood.
Juliette didn't get along well with each other in high school.
There was no deep hatred. It was just that we didn't like each other.
Juliette had always been quiet and seldom talked. She thought I was too noisy and didn't follow the rules.
