"You still haven't answered my question. If the person who saved you that night wasn't me but someone else, what would you do?"
"Would you fall for the girl who rescued you?"
"The person from that night was you," Frank Parker replied, sidestepping the question. "I don't want to analyze a hypothetical that doesn't make sense."
"But..."
"Rebecca, the person who saved me that night was you. The first person I saw when I opened my eyes was you, standing there wet in front of me, with red eyes, calling my name."
"I don't know how to answer the questions you just asked. But if the person who saved me that night wasn't you, I would be very disappointed, extremely disappointed. Rebecca, I hate being lied to the most."
"If someone I'm close to deceives me, it would feel like a knife stabbing my heart. So don't ever lie to me, or I don't know what I might do."
Rebecca Kelloway's expression froze, and her grip on the phone stiffened.
