In the end, Maxwell had to head back to the hospital. The matter at hand was urgent, though, and he needed to attend to it. Just now, a call had come in informing him that they had received their only clue to finding whoever was behind the beast attack.
Upon arriving, he wasted no time heading towards a particular room where he found an officer sitting next to a boy who was still lying on the floor.
"How is he doing, Oris?" Maxwell asked.
"He is fine. The doctor said that the boy needed some rest before he would be discharged," replied Oris, the officer assigned to look after Rocky, the boy who had been beaten by Devon in a skirmish.
Rocky had been unconscious since being brought to the hospital, and today was the first day he was waking up in three days. Maxwell believed that Rocky might know something about the person behind the extraordinary events happening in the city.
Maxwell had done some research on Rocky and discovered that he came from a well-to-do family and lacked nothing, though he was a troublemaker. It surprised Maxwell that Rocky's family hadn't come looking for him, as they were used to not seeing him and were unaware that he had been in the hospital for days.
In the end, Officer Maxwell decided to take advantage of this moment and detain Rocky for a while. The other kids who were brought along with Rocky had already been taken away by their parents.
"Have you asked him anything yet?" Maxwell asked Oris.
"Not really. He is still getting some sleep," Oris replied.
Maxwell walked over to the bedside, and the light cast his shadow over Rocky's sleeping face.
"Knock it off, boy. It is inevitable. I know you can hear me," Maxwell said, raising his voice.
Rocky, startled, opened his eyes but quickly shut them again. Unfortunately, it was already too late, and Maxwell had noticed.
"Now tell me, what do you know about the person who put you in this condition?" Maxwell asked, taking a seat beside Rocky.
Rocky wished he could disappear from the place, anything to get away from the people surrounding him. He had just woken up to find himself surrounded by police officers waiting to question him. This was something no one would ever want, especially a troublemaker like him.
"I swear... I don't know who he is. We had a problem that night, and it ended up like this," Rocky said, now sitting up in his bed. He had no IV on his body, so he was able to move around freely on the bed.
"I don't believe that you can have a problem with a stranger that would end up like this. Why don't you tell me more about your problem with this stranger?" Maxwell asked.
Now Rocky was nervous about what to say. The problem was that by telling Maxwell how the whole thing started, he would be incriminating himself as well. He already had a charge against him, and this would only add to it.
The brawl fight was something the police had tried to stop multiple times but had failed.
"If I tell you how it started, promise me you will let me go," Rocky asked.
"I can't promise that unless your information proves to be truthful and useful. I might consider reducing your punishment according to the law," Maxwell said.
Rocky didn't know whether what he was about to say would be useful to the police. In the end, though, he decided to tell Maxwell about the street brawl and how he had lost to a newcomer.
After hearing the whole story, Maxwell stayed silent for a while before standing up and heading towards the door.
"Wait... Aren't you letting me go like you promised?" Rocky asked.
"I said if you were able to give me useful information. But what am I supposed to do with you losing a brawl to a newcomer?" Maxwell said.
"What if I help you catch him? I know for some reason that this person is more wanted than I am, and you are willing to trade me for him. Perhaps I can help you in some way," Rocky said desperately. He knew that his family wouldn't help him with this. He was on his own and had to find a way to get out of the mess he had created.
"Well... It seems like you have a plan," Maxwell said, stepping back into the room and closing the door.
"It happens every Friday night. The street brawl is on Fridays, and he might be there. I'm sure you won't be able to identify him, so you need to let me go. I can help you identify him," Rocky said.
Maxwell paused to think for a moment. He couldn't deny that Rocky's suggestion was worth considering and might work if executed well.
"Okay... I hope your suggestion works out for you. If we manage to capture the culprit, I will drop all charges against you and set you free," Maxwell said. Rocky nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Devon had just arrived at his house and headed directly to his room. He first checked on his sister, who was already fast asleep.
"I've been working late hours lately, and I barely had time to spend with my sister. Perhaps it's time I take a little break," Devon thought as he closed the door. He entered his room and lay on his bed.
[Health - 40/100]
[Bloodlust at 30%]
"This doesn't make any sense. Wasn't I supposed to be going crazy by now? Or is it because I have increased my endurance? Has it reduced the effects of my bloodlust?" Devon thought as he opened another system panel.
Name: Devon Matt
Age: 16
Race: Werewolf
Class: Unknown
Title: Shadow
Level: 3
HP: 100
Exp: 50/800
Energy: 75
Strength: 7
Dexterity: 7
Endurance: 7
Stat points - 2
All of Devon's stats were now even in terms of the points they had, and he didn't know if this was enough to affect his bloodlust.
"Heck... Am I just realizing I know nothing about system games? If I don't know how to navigate the system, how am I supposed to get rewards from it and use them effectively?" Devon thought, feeling frustrated. Perhaps the effects of the bloodlust hadn't diminished as much as he thought.
"Maybe Kelvin might know how to navigate through the system, but first I have to tell him about the system and my werewolf part. Otherwise, the story won't make any sense," Devon thought, feeling a headache coming on from all the thinking. He decided to ignore the matter and focus on something else, something he had been dying to check.
