Daughter

It took me a couple of minutes to get myself ready for the day.

I fixed my slick white collar, adding length unto my neck. I handled my dark blue ribbon, tying it perfectly as I wanted it to be. I patted every dust, hanging around my plain blue skirt. I wore my black blazer, extending my arms till the end of the blazer's cuff. Every corner is lined with gold, including the gray vest. From my neck unto my knees, I'm fully covered by my uniform. Fortunately, it is designed fantastically.

My uniform is the one and only kind here, in Xarice. Students with the same uniform as mine, are expected to become more extraordinary. It is mandatory to finish and graduate Die Zeitnehmer University.

That name is heavier than my ass, or my pride. I heard they've won multiple contests lifting banners of the school and their own. Filled with joy and intelligence. Especially when it comes to academics, their way of teaching are beyond excellency. At least that's what I heard.

It is my first day, I should be excited. Yet, a thing bugs me off.

We've haven't heard a single thing from the previous graduates. All we know is they're already living out with their own lives, none of them came back. Probably not here in Xarice, where sluts roam around doing nothing.

Xarice is a hopeless city, thousands of useless life that lives under the palm of our rulers. An Archontes, we were told to honor and follow them. For they are the only people who can provide our own needs and necessities, in exchange for graduating at the university.

When a child turns 18, they have a new journey waiting at their door. Parents cry before the departure of their own sons and daughters, knowing it would be the best for them. And when the door opens, there they encounter the Messengers. Random dudes with face masks, are to be called "Messengers". Wearing thick golden coats, that looks furry. Leatherish-gray gloves with expensive metals,  looping around its arm. It's weird that they don't talk like we do, they're probably just doing one of their jobs for the greater good.

Now the real question comes.

Will I do well? Can I handle the upcoming struggle?

Or can I graduate and have a better life outside Xarice?
