Guardians of the Sand

As the gleaming gates of the Norse pantheon faded, Ishikawa found himself standing before the entrance of the Egyptian Pantheon. The towering sandstone archway was adorned with intricate hieroglyphics that seemed to shift and writhe as if alive, shining with the golden light of the sun that hung perpetually at its peak. A hot, dry wind blew past it, carrying the scent of sand and ancient mystery.

"What in the world is this now?" Ishikawa murmured, squinting against the brilliance of the desert sun. His eyes amazed on the view as he stepped forward into the court.

The transition was instantaneous. One moment he stood at the gate, and the next, he was in the heart of a vast desert. Endless dunes stretched in every direction, gleaming in the searing heat. In the distance, three giant pyramids loomed, their smooth sides gleaming as if polished by the hands of the gods themselves.

"Welcome, Kai," a voice boomed, echoing and commanding. The source manifested as Ra, the sun god, whose golden light made it nearly impossible to look directly at him. Beside him stood Anubis, the jackal-headed guardian of the underworld, his dark eyes gleaming with silent judgment. Isis, majestic and loving, hovered just behind them, her outstretched wings casting a calming shadow.

"You have entered the sacred domain of the Egyptian gods," Anubis intoned, his voice deep and thoughtful. "Your heart will be weighed, your strength tested, and your mind examined. Only the worthy will emerge victorious."

Ishikawa bowed deeply. "I am not surprise anymore at this point."

Enlil's voice thundered in his mind, softer now. "Remember, Kai, these gods value balance above all else. Show them that you are more than a warrior."

Ra raised his staff, and the sands around Ishikawa began to shift and swirl. Three figures emerged from the storm: the majestic Sphinx, the snake-like Serpopard, and the fiery Bennu. Each creature radiated an aura of incredible power.

Ra's voice boomed. "Defeat them, and prove your strength to us."

Ishikawa drew his sword, the Aetherium Ring glowing faintly on his finger. The Sphinx moved first, leaping toward him with the grace and power of a lion. Its golden eyes glinted as it spoke in mid-strike.

"Human, answer this riddle, or be crushed beneath my claws: What is always before you but cannot be seen?"

Ishikawa dodged the attack, rolling across the sand. He racked his mind for an answer, the Sphinx's claws missing him by inches. Then, the claws struck him.

"Riddle while fighting?" Ishikawa annoyed. "Aren't this interesting huh?"

"Like I said Kai, they priorites the brain and your muscle on the same level." Enlil reminded Kai with hi words again.

"Tomorrow!" he shouted, turning to face the creature.

The Sphinx froze, its eyes narrowing before it stepped back. "Your answer is wise. Continue."

Before Ishikawa could catch his breath, the Serpopard lunged, its long neck lashing out like a whip. He raised his Excalibur, blocking the blow, but the force of it knocked him back. The creature hissed, its yellow eyes staring at him.

Kai was ready with fight stance. "Always before me but cannot be seen?"

Enlil helped him with the clue he could give. "You always think of your plan just for that."

"My plan?" Ishikawa was tightening the grip on his Excalibur .

Ishikawa dodged the attack, rolling across the sand. He racked his mind for the answer, the Sphinx's claws missing him by inches. Then it struck him.

"Tomorrow!" he shouted, turning to face the creature.

The Sphinx froze, its eyes narrowing before it stepped back. "You have answered wisely. Continue."

Before Ishikawa could catch his breath, a Serpopard lunged, its elongated neck lashing out like a whip. He raised his sword, parrying the blow, but the force of it sent him hurtling backward. The creature hissed, its yellow eyes staring at him.

"Attack with precision, not brute force," Enlil advised, his voice a calm guide.

Ishikawa noticed the way the Serpopard's tail curled before each strike. Using this pattern, he dodged the next attack and retaliated with a quick slash, severing its neck. The creature crumbled into sand.

The sky darkened as Bennu descended, its fiery wings casting shadows on the dunes. Flames erupted from its beak, forcing Ishikawa to dive for cover. He remembered Enlil's words and tried to use the environment to his advantage. Noticing a shard of obsidian reflecting light in the sand, he directed it to reflect sunlight into Bennu's eyes. The flaming bird screamed, veering off course. Seizing the moment, Ishikawa struck, his blade piercing its flaming body. Bennu exploded into embers.

Ra stepped forward, his golden light brighter than ever. "You have proven your strength, Kai. However, strength alone is not enough."

Anubis gestured, and the sand shifted once more, revealing the entrance to the underground labyrinth. "Enter," he commanded. "Within lies a truth you must uncover. Only the wise will find the way."

The labyrinth was a maze of sandstone corridors, lit by flickering torches. Voices whispered from the walls, each offering conflicting directions.

"Focus," Enlil urged. "Listen not to the chaos, but to the harmony within."

Ishikawa closed his eyes, ignoring the din. A faint, rhythmic throb—like a heartbeat—guided him forward. He navigated the maze with purpose, ignoring the distractions. In the center of the labyrinth, he found a pedestal holding a golden scale.

Anubis appeared. "Place your heart upon the scale. Only those whose intentions are pure may advance."

Ishikawa hesitated, then placed his hand on his chest. A glowing manifestation of his heart appeared in his palm. He placed it on the scale, watching as it balanced perfectly with the golden feather.

Anubis nodded. "You are worthy."

Ishikawa emerges from the maze to find Isis waiting. Its wings were spread wide, and its eyes were both friendly and sharp.

"Your exams are almost over," she said. "However, one thing remains: the judgment of your soul."

The golden thread wrapped around Ishikawa, forming a cocoon. In it, he is transported to a vision of his past—every choice, every failure, and every victory unfolds before him. Doubt crept in as he faced the weight of his decision.

"Don't be shaken," Enlil's voice cut through the mist. "You are more than your faults. Trust in your growth."

The vision changes, showing the people Ishikawa has protected and the bonds he has forged. He emerged from the cocoon, his resolve stronger than ever.

Isis smiled. "You have faced yourself and emerged intact. The gods of Kemet bless you, Ishikawa. Bear our power with respect."

Golden light enveloped him, filling him with power and clarity. As the light faded, he stood once again in the Aetherium Ring space, the test had been completed.

Enlil's voice echoed in his mind, warm and proud. "You have done well, Kai. The Egyptian pantheon recognizes your worth. Prepare yourself—the next test awaits."

Ishikawa tightened his grip on the Aetherium Ring, determination burning in his eyes. "I am ready."
