A year later.
While Xiaoyun and Leyan were on a vacation to Hainan, she suddenly threw up again.
After a doctor's visit, it was revealed that Leyan was pregnant again, which didn't surprise the two, as they had stopped using protection to give Yuqi a sibling.
However, what concerned the two was how the belly was getting much bigger than it had last time.
As months went by, Leyan could barely walk despite being able to walk with no problem the last time she was pregnant.
The two of them eventually decided to visit a doctor. But it soon revealed Xiaoyun's worst nightmare.
---
"Oh my god, this has to be a joke... This can't be happening."
Xiaoyun suddenly collapsed to the chair behind him as he covered his face in despair. His hands shook as they stepped out of the doctor's room.
"What's wrong, honey?" Leyan asked, confused by Xiaoyun's sudden outburst.
"I'm sorry. I'm not feeling well at the moment. I'll be back later."
"Songming——"
Before Leyan could ask why, Xiaoyun got up from his seat and ran straight out of the hallway, leaving her all alone in front of the doctor's office.
---
At a park...
Xiaoyun was sitting on a bench all alone. His face was on the verge of tears as he couldn't believe what was happening to him.
Eventually, someone tapped his shoulder.
Looking up, Wuli was standing right in front of him. Her face looked a little surprised after noticing the tear marks on the corner of his eyes.
"What's wrong? Why are you in the park?" Wuli asked curiously, taking a seat right next to him on the bench.
"Did Leyan send you here?" Xiaoyun coldly asked back.
"Leyan? I was just going for my afternoon jog until I ran into you... Is there something wrong between the two of you?"
"I... I don't know... I think I'm sick."
As soon as Xiaoyun murmured the last part out loud, Wuli's face immediately got a little concerned.
"Sick? You looked perfectly fine to me, though... Wait, did the doctor's visit go wrong or something?"
Silence appeared between the two as Xiaoyun sat still with no answers. The only sound was the sounds of leaves raffling the empty streets.
"Come on. Don't just sit here... The baby is fine, right? It's not some weird defect or anything——"
"Leyan is having a twin. They are perfectly fine."
"Oh.... That's great to hear... Wait, why are you here looking all depressed instead of being with Leyan then?"
With the deafening silence resuming again, Wuli still couldn't understand why Xiaoyun was looking so sad.
"Um, do you only want one baby instead of a twin or something? You can afford it, no?" Wuli nervously asked.
"No, it's not that."
"Then what is it? Just say it... Come on, when did you become such a woman like Shuli? Be a straightforward man and say your issue.
And maybe I can help you sort it out. Or just give some ideas on solving whatever problem you are having."
"I'll tell you if you don't tell anyone else about it."
After seeing Wuli nodding her head, Xiaoyun finally revealed the problem.
"The doctor said it was going to be a boy and a girl."
"Huh? What's wrong with that? Is it just fraternal twins?" Wuli questioned.
Seeing Xiaoyun sitting in silence again, Wuli quickly realized the problem was much more severe than she had imagined.
"I swear I won't tell this to anyone else. You can trust me on this... Don't just sit here looking all depressed and keep it to yourself."
After sitting on the bench for almost a minute, Xiaoyun finally decided to reveal the truth to Wuli.
"You promise you won't tell anyone else? Not even to your friend Shuli?"
Wuli hesitated for a second, but she eventually nodded in agreement.
"What is it? I promise I won't tell her either."
"I think I might not be from here," Xiaoyun answered, his face feeling a little relieved as soon as he said it.
"Huh? What? Like an alien of some sort?"
"Yeah, exactly. My memory has been constantly dreaming of some sort of Zombie apocalypse in the future..."
"Okay... Weird, but not that big of a deal. Perhaps you're just watching too many movies or engaging with conspiracy theories."
Noticing the ever-presence grim look on Xiaoyun's face, Wuli pressed on with the question again.
"That isn't the only problem you're facing, though, is it?"
"I... I'm sick." Xiaoyun answered with the same thing as earlier.
"Sick? Can you elaborate on that? What do you mean sick? Like physically sick? Or mentally sick?"
As Xiaoyun watched Wuli spin her hand, trying to get an explanation, he pointed at his head with his finger.
"I have been to dream of fucking Leyan."
Wuli froze for almost an entire minute. Her mind just couldn't wrap around what Xiaoyun had just said.
It made absolutely zero sense to her, more so than the nonsense zombie stuff from earlier.
"L-Leyan is literally your wife. What's wrong with dreaming about that? Are you on drugs or something?"
Wuli stuttered a little as her brain suddenly flashed back to the night she saw the two doing in the bedroom with Shuli.
"But the issue is..."
Xiaoyun hesitated for a second. But he eventually made up his mind as he finally couldn't hold in the secret any longer.
"I was dreaming as if I was her son... having sex with her from the future."
Wuli's mouth dropped for a second as she was caught off guard again. But this time, she instantly drew up a conclusion.
"Xiaoyun... I think you need to see a psychiatrist. You are clearly not in your right mind——"
The second Xiaoyun's face began to darken, Wuli immediately changed his answer at the very last second.
"Or maybe it's just some mommy kink. I had seen a lot of people that are into that kind of roleplay——"
"I..."
"Xiaoyun, if you really love Leyan, you shouldn't be sitting here. Are you going to leave Leyan just because of some dream?
Come on, let go. Stop sitting here and worry over something that might not even happen. Leyan needs you right now."
Noticing Xiaoyun still sitting down on the bench, looking all depressed, Wuli couldn't help but feel a sense of anger brewing in her head.
"Wake up and go find Leyan. Don't sit here, you idiot! Are you fucking out of your mind?"
As soon as Wuli got up from the bench, she finally couldn't endure watching him sitting on the bench all silent again.
"Hello! Wake the fuck up! You're going to go back to where you left Leyan and apologize to her. You hear me?"
With a sudden grab by the shirt collar, Xiaoyun finally woke up from his nightmare.
"You're right. I need to be there for her. Thank you, Wuli."
---
As the days got closer and closer to labor, the nightmare in Xiaoyun's dream had never fully gone away.
Instead, it had only gotten worse to the point that even Leyan could tell Xiaoyun was hiding something from her.
Every time she asked about it, Xiaoyun simply smiled with no answers. Still, she was at least happy that Xiaoyun wasn't running away now.
Soon, the delivery date finally arrived...
Xiaoyun was still sitting on the sofa at home, while Leyan was already at the hospital, anticipating labor soon.
"Xiaoyun, why are you still sitting here? Even Leyan can notice you've changed." Wuli questioned, sitting right before him with a confused face.
"I-I changed?"
Xiaoyun looked back at Wuli in surprise, unable to hide his emotion at all.
"Yes, you had been drowning yourself in work on purpose and barely even touched her. Does Leyan become less attractive to you because she has given birth?"
Wuli spoke louder and louder as if she were questioning a suspect who was guilty of something.
"What? No, I just haven't had the time... And how do you know I haven't——"
Just as Xiaoyun is about to question Wuli, she suddenly gets up from the sofa before looking down right at his face with disgust.
"That's beside the point! You men are really just a bunch of dirty pigs. Why did Leyan even marry you?"
Wuli immediately got up from the sofa, leaving Xiaoyun alone as she headed towards the door.
"I'm sorry... That memory haunts me every time I fall asleep. I don't know how I'm going to face her."
Xiaoyun finally confesses his anxiety to Wuli. His face looked more exhausted than before as he clearly looked out of options.
"Always that stupid dream. Your son isn't even born yet, and you're scared of your son. You are just fucked in the head."
Just as Wuli reached for the door handle, she suddenly turned around and walked back over to the sofa.
"Why did you——"
Before Xiaoyun could finish, Wuli suddenly started rolling up her sleeves, then lifting him by grabbing right by the shirt collar again.
"You know what, let me knock some sense into you before you ruin Leyan's marriage."
"You——"
"Shut up!"
Wuli slapped Xiaoyun's face, leaving a red mark. Yet, he doesn't fight back at all, almost as if he knew he was in the wrong.
"YOU KNOW HOW MUCH LEYAN HAD TO SUFFER? She has to go through labor twice for YOU! AND YOU OVER HERE are sitting here being all indecisive.
Do you know how much precious time you wasted? She could have married someone who isn't mentally unstable like you and has a happy family."
Seeing Xiaoyun still not fighting back and staying silent, Wuli couldn't help but slap his face once again.
"BUT YOU ARE A FUCKING DICKHEAD. YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE A FATHER. You don't deserve Yuqi or Leyan.
WAKE THE FUCK UP. Do you hear me? If you still love Leyan, what the hell are you waiting for?"
Wuli finally let go of Xiaoyun as he collapsed onto the sofa. His head felt a little dizzy. However, the dizziness wasn't from the slap.
Rather, it was from Wuli's words.
"I... You fucking right, I should be there for her. I need to man the fuck up."
Xiaoyun sat back up from the sofa. His eyes looked determined once again, as if he had finally become a changed man.
"Finally, some sense has gotten into you. Go now before you ruin your marriage."
Wuli let out a sigh of relief as she fixed Xiaoyun's collar back up before pushing him to the garage.
Before his brain could fully process everything, he was already in his car, with Wuli sitting next to him.
---
In the hospital...
"Is Xiaoyun here?" Leyan asked, interrupting Shuli's nonstop chatting.
"Nope. That idiot is probably still at home right now, but I called Wuli to check up on him," Shuli responded.
"It's fine... You guys don't need to be so harsh on him... I think he's just going through some work trouble——"
Before Leyan could finish talking, the door was opened.
"Okay, ma'am, it's time."
Shuli quickly left the room as several nurses and doctors arrived with various equipment set up for labor.
A few minutes later...
As Xiaoyun and Wuli rushed towards where Leyan was staying, they noticed Shuli already standing outside by the door.
"Xiaoyun! What took you so long?" Shuli asked with a hint of irritation.
"I——"
"This idiot couldn't get over his mental block earlier. Anyway, go in before it's too late, you dummy." Wuli explained.
Xiaoyun didn't argue back as he knocked on the door and waited. After a short second, a nurse came out.
"We can't allow you guys——"
"I'm Leyan's husband. Can I please be with her?"
"What took you so long? You don't know your wife is going through labor today," the nurse asked with the same irritation as she closed the door.
Xiaoyun could only awkwardly smile as the nurse walked him inside the room, helping him put on some protective equipment before walking closer to the bed.
"I'm here, Leyan. I'm so sorry for leaving you like this." Xiaoyun sincerely apologized as he reached for his hand.
"Hm? What happened to your face?" Leyan asked curiously, noticing the glaring red mark on his face.
"It's nothing. I just fell down the stairs... I love you, babe."
"Why did Wuli say to you? You sound like a different person... But I like it." Leyan smiled as the doctor and nurses finished setting everything up.
---
A week later...
Leyan and Xiaoyun were able to bring the twins back home after a checkup to ensure their health.
And just as he expected, it was a boy and a daughter with faces that looked extremely familiar to the one in his memories.
The moment he saw the two babies, every doubt disappeared. All of his worries vanished as their harmless look melted his heart.
"Hey honey, what should we name our kids?"
"How about Xiaoyun and Xiaoyue? And we can just call our daughter Yueyue to make it easier to distinguish them."
Xiaoyun suggested, choosing to face his nightmare directly rather than hiding away from it.
"What a coincidence. I was thinking that, too."
"Well then, let's go home now!"
---
Another week quickly went by.
Xiaoyun finally decided to quit his full-time job, opting to visit the office occasionally for the weekly report.
Despite reducing the time spent working in the company, it somehow became more profitable than before.
New prospects were allowed to take a more hands-on approach and bring new and innovative ideas, as well as riskier moves that yielded greater rewards.
He was more than happy to hand the company over, letting it run independently while he spent more time with Leyan.
Leyan's parents also drove back to Xiaoyun's house, dropping off Yuqi, who had been living with her grandparents a week before the labor date.
Although the dreams still appear once in a while, he just ignores them as fantasy.
Everything was going smoothly as their relationship was now closer than ever. But just as the twins were about a year old, Leyan suddenly decided to ask him something.
---
"Hey honey, do you think we should hire a maid or a babysitter? I want to go back to work."
"Why?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as he helped Yuqi build a small watch tower with a wooden block.
"I just miss work... Yuqi is almost three years old now, and I can store the breast milk for the twins every morning."
Xiaoyun thought for a second, then nodded in agreement.
"I mean, I can take care of the three. I barely go to work now. But are you sure you want to leave the kids? Xiaoyun and Yueyue are going to miss you."
Xiaoyun raises his concern as he helps Yuqi build another small watch tower block with wooden blocks on the floor.
"Yeah. I'm sure of it. I think I've been spending too much time with kids... I'm getting a little tired, especially from the crying."
Leyan started to unbutton her shirt, raising her arms slightly to allow the twins to start suckling on her breasts.
"I still remember someone said they wanted a 'big family.' Hmm, I wonder who that was." Xiaoyun joked.
Suddenly, Yuqi accidentally runs over the small watch tower the two had just finished building together and starts crying.
"Qiqi, don't cry, okay? Daddy is going to build a new one—an even bigger one that you had never seen before."
Xiaoyun gently patted Yuqi on the back as he began building it with his other hand, his head still looking over to Leyan.
"I'm serious. It feels like we have no time for ourselves, you know..." Leyan's face suddenly blushed red as she looked down at the twins.
"Fine, you can go back to work. I will just stay home and take care of our children... Yuqi, here's your new tower!"
As Xiaoyun finally finished building the tower, Yuqi began walking around it in a circle, her face filled up with a smile.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the front door.
Xiaoyun quickly got up and went over to open the door, only to see Wuli and Shuli standing outside.
"Come on in."
Leyan waved as she noticed the two outside from the sofa.
"Oh my god, is that Yuqi? She's so cute!" Shuli yelled out as she excitedly rushed over to carry her up to her arms.
"Hey, Leyan, how is it going?" Wuli asked as she sat down next to Leyan on the sofa.
"I'm doing fine. How about you?"
"Well, I just got fired after punching somebody who tried to harass me. They really think my black belt Taekwondo was just joking."
Wuli looked a little defeated, her mind seemingly thinking back to what had happened recently.
"Oh, what a coincidence, we were just looking for a babysitter. Do you want to do it?" Leyan suggested.
"Nah, I hate being near babies. I don't have the heart like Shuli."
"Hey! Babies are so cute! Don't say that!" Shuli yelled back, accidentally scaring Yuqi into crying again.
"Hey Qiqi, look, it's a train!"
Xiaoyun quickly took out a toy train, distracting Yuqi as the sobbing was instantly replaced by a smile again.
"Well, I am still surprised Shuli still has a job as a kindergarten teacher when she always yells so loud," Wuli commented.
"Well, maybe being loud is how someone controls a bunch of unruly kids in kindergarten," Leyan commented back.
As the two watched Shuli and Xiaoyun play with Yuqi, Wuli suddenly noticed something glaring before her eyes.
"Um, Leyan... was your chest always this big, or am I going crazy?"
"Oh, these? They just get bigger when you have kids. To be honest, I kind of hate it. Within a year, I will have to purchase three different sizes of bras.
And they're just so heavy to carry around... If it weren't for Xiaoyun, I would have asked for reduction surgery."
As Leyan complained about her problems, Wuli's face was starting to get a little jealous as she looked down at her bra size, which was barely a third of Leyan's size.
Suddenly, Xiaoyun's phone rang.
"I be right back."
---
The phone call was from his business partner, who had been calling for the past several weeks.
"What you want?" Xiaoyun asked as he stood in the backyard alone.
"I just wanted to remind somebody that people are getting jealous of a certain person who is making a lot of money."
"I thought I still had one more year——"
"Yeah, but some people are getting impatient. I can only stall for so long before something bad happens," the trading partner warned.
"Fine. I will announce the company's going public next week. How much of the percent do they want?"
"The officials and businessmen don't want much, just forty percent."
"Forty percent? Are you crazy? I thought the deal was thirty percent." Xiaoyun yelled in anger.
"I'm just a messenger. There's no point arguing with me. Just one more thing you might want to hear.
I heard that some higher-ups consider the contracts you made the stockholder sign to be void and that a certain security commissioner is under investigation.
If I were you, you might want to please them. But that's just me... You want your family safe, right?"
Hearing the threatening tone from the other side, Xiaoyun's mind quickly cooled back down.
"Fine, I will do forty percent. But you have to wait until next month at the very least." Xiaoyun pleaded.
"There's no need to play smart. We know what you're trying to pull off. Trust me, just go public. You will get even more money to make your company bigger——"
Xiaoyun hung up the phone before his business partner could finish talking.
"And now I'm going to have a bunch of stockholders holding me back, huh?" Xiaoyun murmured as he walked back to the living room.
"Hey, Shuli and Wuli, if I am willing to pay you two double your salary of whatever you have right before, can you two be our babysitters?"
Xiaoyun suddenly suggested, which surprised Leyan, as she had thought Xiaoyun wanted to raise the kids himself.
"What's wrong, honey?" Leyan asked in a concerned voice, her mind instantly connecting the dots to the phone call earlier.
"I am going to get extremely busy next week... I can't keep my company private anymore." Xiaoyun honestly replied.
"Um, sure, the kindergarten is in summer break right now anyway. I got nothing else better to do." Shuli replied.
Seeing Shuli agreeing to it, Wuli nodded in agreement as well.
"Fine, not like I have anything better to do right now."
"Well honey, look like we found our babysitter."
"Yeah... I guess."
Leyan felt a little concern for her babies as she looked back at her two best friends, who barely looked responsible for taking care of three babies.
"Don't worry. I am a trained professional! I'm qualified to be a teacher for a reason! I can teach Yuqi and even give early education to the twins!"
As Shuli lifted Yuqi in pure excitement, Yuqi suddenly burst into tears again.
"Daddy! Help!"
Wuli facepalmed as she grabbed Yuqi away from Shuli, setting the toy train down on the floor with her.
"Are you really really sure that we should have them as our babysitter?"
Leyan asked in a concerned voice as the two of them started trying different things to make Yuqi smile again.
"I'm sure of it. There's no one I trust more than these two. They are your best friends, right?"
"I guess...."
