Path to reconciliation

Lilith slowly awoke, the soft light filtering into her room casting a warm glow. She felt a gentle breeze caressing her skin, bringing with it the fresh scent of the morning. As her eyes adjusted to the gentle brightness, she noticed her two wolves, resting peacefully at the foot of her bed. They looked so serene and content, their fur shining in the light. She couldn't help but smile at the sight of her loyal companions, reassured by their presence.

Stretching her limbs carefully, Lilith prepared to rise when she realized that there was someone else in her room. It was Ava, slumbering peacefully right beside her. Lilith felt a jolt of shock run through her body, followed by a surge of confusion and anxiety. The events of the previous day flooded back into Lilith's memory the kidnapping, the rescue, and the arguments that had driven a wedge between them.

Ava stirred suddenly, awakened by the rustling of the sheets as Lilith tried to sit up. She opened her eyes and met Lilith's gaze, a flash of surprise crossing her face. Concern etched into her features, she gently urged Lilith to lie back down. "You shouldn't move, Lilith. Your wound looked pretty serious, so rest up," Ava advised, her voice filled with genuine worry.

Lilith couldn't help but feel a mixture of surprise and confusion at Ava's demeanor. They had parted on such bitter terms, and she had expected Ava to still be coldh her. Why was she here? Why was she acting so concerned? "Aren't you supposed to be angry with me?" she questioned, her eyes searching Ava's face for any hint of the anger that had colored their last encounter.

Ava regarded Lilith with a slightly irritated expression before her features softened. She sighed and shook her head, as if trying to clear her mind. "You almost died, Lilith. You want me to ignore that? I almost lost you yesterday," she replied, her gaze filled with a deep concern that Lilith hadn't expected.

Lilith let out a sigh, her brows furrowing as she struggled to understand this shift in Ava's behavior. She felt a wave of emotion wash over her, making her heart beat faster and her breath catch in her throat. She didn't know what to say or how to react. "I thought you'd be glad not to see me," she admitted quietly, the weight of their previous arguments still heavy in her heart.

"I was worried about you, Lilith," Ava confessed, her voice tinged with exasperation. She seemed to be caught between her anger and her genuine concern for Lilith's well-being. She reached out and touched Lilith's cheek gently, making Lilith flinch slightly at the contact. "You don't know how much you mean to me," she whispered softly.

Lilith remained silent for a moment, grappling with the complex emotions that swirled within her. She felt Ava's touch on her skin, sending shivers down her spine. She felt Ava's breath on her face, making her lips tingle. She felt Ava's eyes on hers, piercing through her soul. She felt a surge of attraction and affection for Ava, but also a sense of fear and doubt.

She wanted to embrace Ava and kiss her passionately, but she also wanted to push her away and scream at her angrily. She wanted to forgive Ava and forget everything that had happened, but she also wanted to hold a grudge and remember every hurtful word. She wanted to stay with Ava and never let go, but she also wanted to leave Ava and never look back.

She was confused and conflicted, unsure of what to do or say next.

Before she could respond, Ava rose from the bed abruptly, breaking their eye contact and their physical connection. Her frustration evident in her movements, she turned away from Lilith and headed towards the door. "It's almost impossible to have a conversation with you," Ava muttered before briskly leaving Lilith's room, her footsteps echoing in the corridor.

Lilith was left alone in her bed, feeling a mix of emotions and thoughts. She felt a pang of sadness and loneliness, wishing that Ava would come back and hold her. She felt a spark of anger and pride, thinking that Ava had no right to judge her or leave her. She felt a twinge of hope and fear, wondering if they would ever reconcile or part ways.

She didn't know what to do or how to feel.

She just lay there, staring at the ceiling, waiting for something to happen.

The door to Lilith's room gently creaked open once more, and this time, it was Ava's mother who entered. She wore a warm smile as she greeted Lilith, her eyes filled with genuine affection.

Lilith felt a surge of emotion as she hugged Ava's mother back. "Was it really that bad?" she inquired, her voice weak and raspy. Her memories of the previous day were fragmented and hazy, mostly consisting of her rescue by Red and then having faint.

Ava's mother nodded, her voice filled with understanding. "It was Ava who found you in the royal garden and took you back to your room before calling the doctors to take care of you," she explained, her tone gentle. She could see the confusion in Lilith's eyes, and knew she had many questions. "You were unconscious for a long time, Lilith. You had a high fever and a lot of blood loss. The doctors said you were lucky to be alive."

Lilith's lips curled into a small, grateful smile. "I understand better now," she murmured, touched by Ava's actions.

"Ava stayed at your bedside from the moment you arrived until you woke up this morning," Ava's mother revealed, her voice tinged with pride and affection. "She must really care about you, Lilith." She smiled warmly at Lilith, hoping to convey her own feelings as well. "We both do, Lilith. You're like family to us now.

As Lilith processed these words, she couldn't help but feel a newfound sense of hope. Perhaps there was a chance for reconciliation, a chance for them to mend the rift that had formed between them. Ava's actions spoke louder than any argument, and Lilith was determined to seize this opportunity to make amends. She looked at Ava's mother with sincere gratitude and love in her eyes. "Thank you," she whispered, feeling tears well up in her eyes. "Thank you for everything."
