New plan

Lilith and Ava sat close together on the bed, their cheeks still tingling from their intimate moment just moments ago. The atmosphere in the room had shifted from cozy to tense as Lila's unexpected appearance hung over them like a dark cloud. They exchanged nervous glances, their eyes speaking volumes.

Lila's presence in the room was unexpected and awkward, to say the least, making the air heavy with unspoken questions and tension. Lilith cleared her throat, her voice betraying a hint of anxiety as she tried to sound casual. "No, Lila, you're not interrupting anything. We were just... chatting."

Ava nodded vigorously, her voice equally strained. "Yes, just catching up."

Lila's expression remained skeptical, her eyes darting between the two of them like a detective trying to crack a case. She didn't press the matter further, though, and let out a forced chuckle. "Well, fine then. I just came to see if you wanted to join us for dinner, but it seems you've already eaten."

Lilith nodded, her relief palpable. "Yes, we made something in the kitchen."

Lila's gaze briefly flitted between Lilith and Ava before she shrugged nonchalantly. "Alright, suit yourselves. Dinner is in the dining room whenever you decide to join us." With that, she turned on her heels and left the room, her exit marked by the soft click of the door.

As soon as Lila was gone, Lilith and Ava exhaled in unison, releasing the tension that had gripped them. They exchanged a mixture of relief and amusement, their laughter bubbling up as they couldn't help but chuckle at the awkwardness of the situation.

Ava grinned, breaking the remaining tension. "Well, that was unexpected."

Lilith laughed softly, her embarrassment fading. "Tell me about it."

They continued to chat and share stories, savoring the warmth of their connection and the respite from their secretive tryst. The awkward interruption seemed like a distant memory, and they both appreciated the time they spent together.

However, just as they were settling into their conversation, the door creaked open once again. This time, it was Lila, who entered the room with a determined expression on her face.

"Lilith," Lila said, her voice more serious than before, "can I speak to you privately for a moment?"

Lilith glanced at Ava, who nodded understandingly. "Sure, Ava, I'll be right back."

Ava left the room, and Lila closed the door behind her. She turned her attention back to Lilith, her eyes filled with concern.

"Lilith, I couldn't help but notice what was going on in here earlier," Lila began, her voice lowered. "You need to be careful. Ava is an outsider, and we can't afford to let our guard down, especially now."

Lilith frowned, not entirely sure what Lila was getting at. "Lila, Ava has been nothing but helpful and kind to me. I trust her."

Lila sighed, frustration evident in her tone. "Lilith, you have to understand. We're in the midst of a battle against demons. We can't afford to let personal feelings get in the way. Ava is part of the enemy's camp, and we can't be too sure of her intentions."

Lilith shook her head, unwilling to accept Lila's suspicions. "I don't believe that. She's not like the others. She's different."

Lila leaned in closer, her expression grave. "Listen carefully, Lilith. I've been studying, and I've learned a little more about how to kill a demon. We have to avenge our mother's death, and to do that, we can't afford to be naive. There are multiple ways to kill a demon, but for now, I've only read about one method."

Lilith's curiosity was piqued. "What is it?"

Lila leaned even closer, her voice barely a whisper. "There's a poison, a rare one, that I've managed to get hold of. All I have to do is pour it into a demon's drink, and it will kill them in twenty minutes. It's untraceable, and it's the perfect way to eliminate them discreetly."

Lilith's eyes widened as she processed what Lila was saying. The gravity of their situation was sinking in, and the thought of avenging their mother's death took on a new urgency.

Lila continued, "I need your help, Lilith. We can't let emotions cloud our judgment. We have to be smart and strategic about this. Ava may seem different, but we can't afford to take any risks."

Lilith hesitated, torn between her trust in Ava and her desire to avenge their mother. Finally, she nodded, her determination resolute. "I understand, Lila. I'll do whatever it takes to make them pay for what they did to Mother."

Lila nodded in approval, her eyes filled with a mixture of relief and determination. "Good. We'll work together on this. It's time to take matters into our own hands and bring justice to our family."

Lilith watched Lila's determined expression as she nodded in approval of their plan. They were in this together, no matter how complicated it would become. After a brief exchange of glances and a solemn handshake, Lilith exited the corridor and went back to her room, eager to reassure Ava that everything was alright.

She found Ava waiting anxiously , her eyes lighting up as Lilith returned. "Is everything okay?"

Lilith smiled warmly, trying to convey a sense of calm. "Yes, everything's fine. Lila just wanted to discuss something privately."

Ava sighed in relief, her shoulders visibly relaxing. "I was worried for a moment. Thank you for being honest with me."

Lilith reached out and took Ava's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Of course, Ava. We trust each other, remember?"

Ava nodded, her eyes filled with gratitude. "You're right. I shouldn't jump to conclusions."

As they stood there, hands still entwined, Ava hesitated for a moment before speaking softly, "Lilith, would it be alright if... if I slept in your bed tonight? I don't feel very comfortable in my room."

Lilith felt her heart swell with affection for Ava. She nodded, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Of course, Ava. You're always welcome in my room."

Ava's face brightened with a shy smile, and they shared a sweet moment of connection before heading to Lilith's bed together. They settled into the cozy bed, the tension from earlier in the evening slowly dissipating.

The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight pierced through the curtains, Lilith woke up alone in her bed. Confusion momentarily clouded her mind, but then she remembered the events of the previous night. Ava must have left the room early.

A sense of anticipation washed over Lilith as she realized that today was the day Ava's father, the King of Demons, was visiting. A large meal was to be organized in his honor. She couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and dread, knowing what Lila had shared with her about their plan.

Just as Lilith was about to get up and prepare for the day, there was a soft knock on her bedroom door. Lila entered, her expression serious and determined.

"Lilith," Lila began in a hushed tone, "today is the day. I'm going to put the poison in the glass of the King of Demons, Ava's father. It's our only chance."

Lilith's heart raced as the gravity of their plan sank in. She nodded, though her voice was barely above a whisper. "I understand, Lila. We have to do this."
