A species never before seen in this world!
Compared to hirudos, the size of these bugs were more than ten times larger.
Their bodies were covered in a layer of fine scales, a stark transformation from the "normal hirudos."
The reason hirudos fear salt is because they don't have skin on their surfaces, and their purely mucosal structure cannot withstand significant osmotic pressure differences. But once covered in a layer of scale structures, this weakness also vanished.
Even more terrifyingly, those fist-sized reptiles could extend countless pseudo-feet from their scales while moving, allowing them to move faster across various terrains.
Inside their normally bloodsucking mouthparts were round mouths filled with a ring of needle-like sharp teeth. It's estimated that if bitten by these bugs, you wouldn't just be sucked dry of blood, but likely would have chunks of flesh torn off.
