Chapter 21 : Fits of Rage

The sound of my phone ringing shattered the silence of the cave. I recognized the ringtone as Kim’s. I groaned and pressed my face into Tahir’s shoulder. I was so close to falling asleep right here on the ground.

“You’re a popular woman,” he joked. My phone had also interrupted us the first time we’d had sex. “Do you need to get that?”

“I do,” I said with a sigh. “It’s Kim. Her dad has been so weird lately, she’s been really worried. I can’t just let it go to voicemail.”

I rolled off of his chest and sat up. The sun must’ve been getting quite low outside, because I was having trouble seeing. I picked up a few pieces of clothing, but none were my pants.

A pale blue light drew my attention and I turned to see Tahir holding my phone out to me. It was still ringing insistently.

“Thanks.” I took the phone and answered it. “Hey, Kim,” I answered in what I hoped was a friendly tone. I was definitely annoyed by her timing, but that wasn’t her fault.
