Chapter 19 : Reality

It was cold. I felt it on my face and fingers, but I wasn’t shivering. Something smooth and warm was wrapped around me. I was comfortable, but I wasn’t sure where I was. I was with Tahir, I remembered that much. I shifted as consciousness slowly came back to me. We were in the cave, for some reason. Then Tahir…

I jolted upright and my eyes flew open. Tahir had transformed into a huge, black dragon. I must have passed out from the shock.

Tahir’s tail was wrapped around me, holding me off of the cold ground. He gently sat my feet on the ground and uncoiled his tail when he saw that I was awake. He took a few steps away from me, giving me some space.

My eyes were wide as I stared at him. It was dark in the cave, but I could see enough. His wings were folded against his back and he sat back on his hind legs and looked at me patiently. The eyes were his, despite the change in color. I could tell. They burned in the same, unexplainable way that Tahir’s eyes always did.
