The door swung shut behind Jack and left Kenna and me in silence. She was leaning heavily against me and staring at the door he’d vanished through.
“Did I do something wrong?” she asked quietly.
“Not at all, darling,” I assured her.
Jack was being weird. He’d never quite behaved like that before, although he did have a voyeuristic streak. He’d never been so damned intense about it. I didn’t want to ask about it and piss him off, but I was starting to worry about him. Kenna stood upright and turned to face me. She was a little unsteady on her feet, but seemed fine. She stood on her toes and kissed me. I smiled against her lips and pulled her against me. I just couldn’t get enough of her. I felt such bone deep contentment when she was in my arms. It was almost painful to let her go.
She smiled playfully at me and took a step back. “We should probably clean up a little,” she joked, tapping her hand on the counter behind her.
I laughed and nodded. “Yeah, probably.”
