Going to Reid’s house instead of heading home for the night turned out to be the right call. If I were back at my uncle’s right now I had no doubt that I would be pouting in my bedroom and struggling to fall asleep. Instead, I was cuddled on the couch with Reid and watching a cheesy comedy on tv. 


I hadn’t told Reid everything that I’d learned about Jack’s history, it wasn’t my place to do that. I did tell him that Jack and I had argued about why he was keeping me at a distance, despite the fact that he admitted to feeling the mate pull for me. 


“Jack’s stubborn,” he’d told me. “I don’t like to admit when something makes him nervous or scares him. I’m not surprised that he tried to blame it on your age, but try not to take it personally. He gives Matt and me shit for being young and impulsive all the time, and I’m only three years younger than him.” Reid’s smile and calm voice had done a lot to calm my anger.
