*Amaya*
The sound of trees snapped behind us as if they were twigs. The crashing sound that followed was deafening. My heart was racing so quickly, I couldn’t feel it anymore.
Wren ran faster and faster avoiding the falling trees but they grew closer still.
I cursed under my breath, I wish I could shift. I felt like useless dead weight. Wren could run faster without having to carry me on his back.
Closer…
Louder…
All I could hear were my frantic breaths as I suddenly flew from Wren’s back. Then, I was going up. I felt sharp talons digging into my shoulders. I screamed as loudly as I could. I watched Wren become smaller and smaller in the distance as I became level with the treetops.
I dared to look up at the creature that had stolen me from Wren’s back. The beast was twice the size of Wren’s wolf with the body of a lion, the wings of a dragon, and the tail of a scorpion - a Goddess damn manticore.
