After receiving the government-issued medals, Tony Stark arrived at Charles Doyle's base. Upon meeting Charles, Tony remarked, "Looks like I need to build a base like this myself, to have a safer place."
Given the exposure of his location and the destruction of his home, Tony's concern was understandable. Charles, recalling Tony's future Avengers base, responded, "You do need a base to carry out your hobbies."
At that moment, the TV displayed news coverage of Stark and his companions receiving their medals. Tony glanced at the news and commented, "I think this medal owes a lot to you."
Charles waved his hand dismissively, "I have no interest in such things. If I wanted, I could get plenty of these. That guy Fury wanted to give me several titles."
Tony chuckled and then retrieved a small iron box from his pocket, slightly opening it to reveal the new element inside. Smiling, he said, "How about this, then?"
Charles smiled back, "You know me well."
Taking the box from Tony and opening it, Charles was surprised to see 20 new elements inside.
"So many?" he remarked.
Tony took a sip of whiskey from the table and explained, "Given what happened recently, I realized that not only do I need to increase my strength, but the people around me also need to enhance their abilities. I'm not saying they need to join the fight, but they should at least have the means to escape the battlefield."
"I need a physical enhancement serum to improve Pepper's survivability. With my lifestyle, it's impossible to keep those around me safe all the time."
Clearly, Tony's visit was to purchase a physical enhancement serum for Pepper Potts.
Charles, hearing Tony's request, didn't hesitate and retrieved a packaged physical enhancement serum from his storage space.
"Here's the serum you need. However, after giving it to Pepper, I recommend some special training for her to get accustomed to her new strength."
Tony nodded in agreement.
"Yes, otherwise, the things in the office might not withstand her strength."
With the serum issue settled, Tony shifted the conversation.
"Charles, this time, the Ten Rings and the Mandarin were fakes, but you've told me that the real Ten Rings exist in this world. How do I find them?"
Despite the mastermind behind this incident being Killian, Tony wasn't planning to let the organization that had once kidnapped him go unpunished.
Charles looked at Tony and asked, "Are you planning to wage war against the Ten Rings?"
Tony nodded firmly. "If I didn't know about their existence, I wouldn't care. But knowing they are out there, I need to take action."
Charles thought for a moment and then said, "You can, but finding them won't be easy. You'll need to sign a mission contract."
With that, Charles retrieved a blank scroll from his storage space. While he had a good relationship with Tony, he wasn't inclined to help for free.
Seeing the mention of a mission contract, Tony wasn't surprised.
Tony asked, "How much will the commission cost in dollars?"
Charles shook his head and held up two fingers, "Twenty units of the new element."
Tony was taken aback by the request but knew Charles wouldn't deceive him. After a moment of thought, he asked, "Does this matter involve the supernatural?"
Charles nodded, "Yes. Are you sure you want to go to war with them?"
Tony's expression turned serious, "If it involves the supernatural, then it's even more important to eliminate this threat."
Charles nodded in agreement, quickly writing down the details on the mission scroll and handing it to Tony for his signature.
After signing the mission contract, Tony said, "I don't have that many new elements with me, but I'll deliver them soon. Let me know once you locate the Ten Rings' headquarters. Since they're involved in the supernatural, I'll need to build a batch of new suits."
Charles nodded, "I don't know the exact location of the Ten Rings' headquarters right now. It will take some time to investigate. In the meantime, you should prepare your suits."
"Tony, a supernatural organization that's existed for thousands of years won't be easy to take down. You'll need all the resources you can muster."
Tony nodded solemnly, "I'll be prepared."
Tony then donned his Iron Man suit, took the box containing the physical enhancement serum, and left.
Watching Tony leave, Charles tossed the mission contract into the mission hall, receiving an A-rank mission rating, which he found satisfactory.
Reflecting on the power of the Ten Rings and their leader Xu Wenwu, Charles realized that with the Ten Rings' mystical powers, Tony might struggle to defeat them, especially with his current technology.
The gap between Tony's current suits and the advanced suits from the later phases of the Avengers was significant.
To assess their abilities, Charles thought it might be wise to have Tony scout their strength, though it could be risky for him. So, precautions would need to be taken.
Charles then went to Tsunade's lab, where Tsunade and Shizune were busy. He asked, "Any progress on the Extremis virus? Where's Maya Hansen?"
Seeing Maya wasn't in the lab, Charles was curious.
Tsunade paused her work and looked at Charles, "Her ideas are creative, but Orochimaru and I have split the Extremis research into two directions."
"My focus is on healing and recovery. By injecting a specific amount of the serum, we can stimulate the brain's central nervous system to reconstruct and repair damaged tissues. It can heal injuries, regrow limbs, and so on, without the risk of spontaneous combustion or explosions."
"Patients will undergo a single healing process per injection, after which the serum's effects will wear off. Once healed, users will revert to their original state, with no additional abilities or automatic healing from future injuries."
