SHADOWS OF DOUBT II

In the infirmary, the nurse examined my ankle and diagnosed it with a mild sprain. Instead of a cast, she opted for RICE therapy coupled with anti-inflammatory medication to alleviate discomfort and promote healing.

Later in day, while I was still drowned in thoughts, Rex came into the infirmary to check up on me, just after Lily had left.

"S.B, how are you feeling?" Rex inquired, standing by the door.

"I'm fine. I only feel the pain if I try to move around," I replied.

He approached and settled beside me on the bed. We sat in silence, an awkward tension hanging between us.

"Do you think I did it?" he finally asked.

My heart started thumping widely in my chest since I still couldn't figure out the answer to that question yet.
