Deku From "Dekiru"

Dekiru means "can do" and Deku is a twist on that. Meaning "can't do" or "useless"

As Izuku sat down at his desk, his eyes scanned the room. He could see Bakugo a few seats away, casually creating small explosions in his hands, tiny pops of controlled fire and heat that seemed to entertain him more than anything else.

Kacchan's still making progress, Izuku thought, though the sight of Bakugo's restless energy always brought a mix of awe and apprehension. It was clear that Bakugo wasn't one to rest on his laurels, not even on the first day.

Kuro, on the other hand, was completely focused on whatever he was sketching in his notebook. Normally, Kuro exuded a much more cheerful, energetic vibe, but now he was lost in thought, carefully drawing what appeared to be some kind of technical design. It must be important, Izuku mused. Kuro was never one to waste time on trivial things.

Just then, the silence in the room was broken by Ochaco Uraraka, who, feeling a bit awkward with the tension hanging in the air, leaned over to Izuku. "So, what do you think of U.A. so far?" she asked with a smile.

Izuku opened his mouth to respond, but then something incredible dawned on him—he was talking to a girl. And for the first time in his life, he wasn't freezing up, mumbling incoherently, or completely losing his composure. I'm having a conversation with a girl! The realization hit him like a ton of bricks, and his face turned a little pink as he fought back the urge to cry out of sheer happiness. Kacchan would kill me if I cried right now, he reminded himself, quickly regaining his composure.

Uraraka tilted her head slightly, sensing something was off about Izuku's reaction. Before she could ask, however, she decided to shift the conversation elsewhere. She glanced over at Bakugo, curious about him, and, in an attempt to break the ice, asked, "Hey, so what do you think of U.A.?"

Bakugo didn't even bother looking at her. "Screw off, Kirby," he muttered, his eyes still locked on his hands as he ignited another tiny explosion.

Uraraka blinked, taken aback. "Kirby? Why are you calling me that?"

Bakugo finally glanced over at her, smirking slightly. "You've got pink cheeks, you're chubby, and I bet you eat a lot, just like that little puffball. So yeah, Kirby."

Uraraka's face fell, hurt by the comment. She had never expected such a rude remark on the first day, and it stung. How can someone be so mean so quickly? she wondered, her cheeks flushing slightly with embarrassment. Deciding then and there that she would avoid Bakugo from now on, she turned back to Izuku and whispered, "I'm never talking to him again."

Izuku, having experienced Bakugo's sharp tongue for most of his life, gave her an empathetic look. "That's just how he talks. He's... well, that's just how Kacchan is."

Before Uraraka could respond, the door slid open, and Tenya Iida walked into the room with his usual sense of purpose.

He arrived at exactly 8:00 AM, the ideal time to start learning, and immediately noticed his acquaintances from the entrance exam: Bakugo, Izuku, and Kuro. Seeing how focused Kuro was on his notebook, Iida decided it was best to strike up a conversation with the others.

"Good morning, Midoriya, Uraraka," Iida greeted them, his posture as stiff and formal as ever.

Izuku smiled back. "Good morning, Iida! Glad to see you made it on time."

Uraraka gave a small wave, though she felt slightly intimidated by Iida's formal demeanor. He looks like he's from some prestigious family, she thought, noting the way he carried himself with such discipline.

Iida, sensing her unease, quickly explained. "Apologies for taking so long to arrive. There was a spill in the hallway, and several students had to take the long route to class."

Izuku nodded, ever the accommodating one. "No worries, Iida! It's good that you made it safely."

Uraraka, still adjusting to Iida's intensity, asked, "So... are you guys long-time friends or something?"

Iida shook his head. "Not at all. We met at the U.A. entrance exam. That's when I first encountered Midoriya, Bakugo, and Kuro."

Uraraka's eyes widened slightly in surprise. Iida managed to talk to Bakugo? She was still reeling from the "Kirby" comment and couldn't imagine someone like Iida willingly engaging with someone as abrasive as Bakugo. "Wait, you talked to Bakugo? How'd that go?"

Iida, misunderstanding the question's intent, straightened his posture even more. "Our interactions were brief but informative. Bakugo is... direct in his manner of speaking, but that is to be expected of someone with his determination and competitive spirit."

"Yeah... I guess that's one way to put it," Uraraka muttered, still not entirely convinced.

Iida then motioned toward the back of the classroom where Kuro sat, engrossed in his work. "And Kuro was there as well. He's been working diligently ever since."

At the mention of his name, Kuro lifted his head for a brief moment, his usual bright smile returning as he raised his hand in a casual gesture—giving a peace sign, though his thumb was extended outward as well.

It was a gesture that seemed unique to him, his way of saying "Yo." Uraraka, confused but wanting to be polite, tried to mimic the gesture, though her attempt was awkward at best. Kuro, not seeming to mind, gave her an approving nod before returning to his sketches.

Izuku, Iida, and Uraraka exchanged amused glances before turning their attention to the rest of the class. More students were starting to file in, each with their quirks and personalities. The energy in the room began to build as everyone settled into their seats, awaiting the arrival of their homeroom teacher.

But as the chatter in the room grew louder, Izuku couldn't help but wonder about the person sleeping in the yellow bag in the corner. Is that... a teacher?

Before he could dwell on it further, the yellow bag began to stir, and slowly but surely, a groggy, half-awake figure emerged. The students went quiet as they realized that the person in the sleeping bag wasn't just anyone—it was their homeroom teacher, Eraser Head, or as he was known in the hero world, Shota Aizawa.

Aizawa yawned, his tired eyes scanning the room before he spoke in a low, monotone voice. "Alright, settle down. We're starting."

And with that, the first day of UA truly began.

...

As the last of the students filed into Class 1-A, Aizawa's tired eyes scanned the room. His gaze moved lazily from one student to the next, mentally tallying the number of faces before him. 21 students. That number stuck out to him, as there were supposed to be only 20 students in each U.A. class.

But Class 1-A had a unique case. Kurokami Tenshin, Aizawa thought, his lips curving slightly in irritation. The name itself was absurd—practically a walking ego. He couldn't imagine anyone seriously calling themselves "Kami".

But there he was, Kurokami sitting by the window, quietly sketching something in his notebook. He wasn't the usual loudmouth brat that Aizawa had expected, but that didn't make him any less of a problem.

Aizawa's thoughts drifted back to the entrance exam incident. Kuro had focused almost entirely on rescue points, racking up an obscene number of them while barely engaging the combat robots.

The judges had been divided on whether to fail him for neglecting the actual combat part of the exam or pass him for his exemplary rescue skills. Ultimately, Kuro had been let in, but not without controversy.

Was he being a brat, trying to show off? Or was he just that much of a saint? Aizawa's brow furrowed slightly as he thought about it. Either way, it didn't matter. He would beat that attitude out of him soon enough. Saints and brats alike had no place in a hero course unless they could back it up with skill.

Shaking off the thought, Aizawa snapped back to reality. He glanced at the students again, all of whom were still settling into their seats, some chatting nervously while others tried to maintain an air of confidence. It was time to introduce himself and set the tone for what was to come.

Standing at the front of the room, Aizawa yawned and stretched slightly before addressing the class in his usual monotone. "I'm Shota Aizawa. I'll be your homeroom teacher."

The students blinked in surprise. Some had expected a more formal introduction or at least something with more energy. But Aizawa wasn't about to waste time with niceties. He continued speaking as though he was already bored with the task at hand.

"Put on your gym uniforms and meet me outside at Training Ground Beta," Aizawa instructed, his voice flat and emotionless.

Ochaco Uraraka raised her hand nervously. "Um, aren't we supposed to have an orientation or something first?"

Aizawa gave her a slow, unsettling smile—one that sent a chill down the spines of most of the students. "Orientation? That's a waste of time. After all, half of you might be gone by the end of the day."

A collective gasp rippled through the room. Gone? The word hung in the air, heavy with implication. The students exchanged uneasy glances, the gravity of Aizawa's words sinking in. Could we be expelled on the first day?

Aizawa's smile faded back into his usual deadpan expression. "You're here to become heroes. You'll either rise to the challenge or you'll be kicked out. Simple as that."

Without another word, Aizawa turned and walked out of the room, leaving the students to process the chilling reality of their situation.

The class soon gathered outside at one of UA's sprawling training grounds. The morning air was crisp, and the students stood nervously, some fidgeting with their gym uniforms as they waited for further instructions.

Kuro, however, had arrived early once again. He had bypassed the usual changing room routine by keeping his gym uniform in his bag and changing in a matter of seconds—another way to save time, he figured.

As the rest of the class slowly gathered, Aizawa appeared, his eyes as tired as ever, though his tone remained serious. "Today, we'll be testing your capabilities in various physical tasks. Running, jumping, pole vaulting, and, of course, how far you can throw a ball using your quirk. I want to see how good you are, how far you've come."

Aizawa held up a small digital device, clearly designed to monitor and record the students' performances. His next words, however, sent a shockwave through the class. "And the last person... is expelled."

Aizawa's lips curled into what could only be described as an evil smile, one that unsettled most of the students. The threat of expulsion on the very first day hung heavily over their heads. One mistake, one bad performance, and it could all be over before it even begins.

Whispers spread through the group. Uraraka looked at Izuku with wide eyes. "Expelled? On the first day?"

Izuku nodded nervously. "I've heard U.A. is tough, but I didn't think it would be like this..."

Even Bakugo, who rarely seemed fazed by anything, narrowed his eyes at the mention of expulsion. No way I'm coming in last. This is mine to dominate.

Kuro, however, seemed unbothered by the revelation. He stood calmly, stretching his arms and rolling his shoulders, as if this was just another day of training for him. Expulsion or not, I'm not worried. This is just another test.
