A Twelfth Letter from a Black Bird

Dear Easter,

I hope Mother ends your case soon. Anyhow, you should get some sleep, if you're tired. I already feel like Mother's going to give me more manual labour to do. I'm the crowned prince, not a detective!! Does Mother think we're her personal spies?

Well, I'm guessing you'll convince Mother that Nico is the one who keeps killing women. Speaking of killing, I hope there is no more. I dislike murder, it means I have more work to do.

Another masquerade ball is going to be held in a few days. Unfortunately, I am forced to attend. And, one of my spies has given me some details into what Mother is going to tell me to do.

Apparently, the masquerade ball is a strange one. Many people were invited, no matter their status or reputation. They're all going to be wearing masks, anyway, so nobody will be able to tell. The ball will branch off into a dinner party, then another tea party for the women, lasting a total of two days.

If you have not finished your case by the four days the masquerade is in, I'm afraid I must use my elegant and refined acting skills, and it pains me deeply to think I must reveal my dexterity so soon.

Oh, there's also going to be a very rare auction during the masquerade ball. I am interesting in going, so I might miss some of the ball. It's not the legal kind of auction, which excited me more. Do you think they'll sell pretty slave children again? Last year, I remember there was a purpled eyed girl. She was quite a wonder to look at, but her eyes were bleak and soulless.

If the Puppet doesn't turn up soon, I might need to buy Mother a replacement. It's a shame, but you know Mother's temper when she doesn't have a toy to take out her anger on. Sometimes, she's like an angry tiger. Perhaps she broke her toy, and it's remains are still strewn around somewhere on the palace grounds. Well, I'll buy her a replacement just in case.

You seemed quite close with the puppet, although you didn't seem to show it. I hope it turns out to be alive and well.

About fiancés, I am perfectly capable of finding myself a woman. I suppose, I just simply haven't found one right for me yet. I will need to do more searching, until I find a girl that I truly love, unlike how you are forced to be with somebody you don't know will be good to you or not. What a shame. What a shame indeed.

I am not salty about you having a fiance, by the way.

Good luck with your case and relationship,

Osiris.
