THE BIRTHDAY PARTY

I stood in front of the mirror admiring my dress. It was a black dinner gown with a sleeveless hand. I really look like a princess with my hair and makeup done.

I must confess my mum do have a great taste in fashion. This gown is my birthday gift from her and I love it.

"Tonight is gonna be a success, it has to be" I muttered to myself trying to calm my nerves.

"Your highness your ride is here" Gia said peeping inside my room.

"Oh my God Gia, you look fabulous"

"Are you kidding you are the one that looks breath taking. Dax is not going to be able to resist you tonight" Gia said giving me a teasing smile.

"Stop teasing me Gia, you know I dressed this good because is my birthday and not for Dax"

"If you say so my lady"

"Really are you going to continue treating me like some princess?"

"But you are a princess"

"No am not, am just Brianna no princess attached to it"

"Fine let's just go, your mum is dying to see your dress"

"Fine let's just go"

"Oh my God my baby looks so beautiful" my mum said immediately she saw me.

"Wow sis, you look good" Eric complemented.

"Thanks mum, thanks Eric"

"Come sweetie let mama give you a big hug"

"Mum you don't have to talk like that am no longer a kid"

"I know but I just can't help it, my baby is growing into a beautiful lady" I walked up to her and hugged her.

"Thank you mum for making today happen"

"Anything for you sweetie and remember don't get wasted"

"Fine I won't drink much"

"You better not because I won't let you off even though it your birthday"

"Okay mum but where is dad?"

"He left for some meeting"

"On a Sunday?"

"Yeah there is this project they are working on and it has been keeping him so busy lately"

"But mum that's not fair, you work and you still take care of the family but dad doesn't even spare a day for us not even on our birthday"

"I know sweetie but that's why am his wife. Is my job to take care of you and your brother while your father provides for the family"

"He should have at least wished me a happy birthday before he left"

"He will, you know your father he is full of surprises"

"Okay, we are going to be heading out"

"Okay have fun okay?"

"Okay mum"

"Come Gia, come give me a hug" mum said as she hugged Gia and pecked her cheeks. She also whispered something to her and Gia smiled brightly.

"Thank you Mrs Cromwell"

"You are welcome sweetie, the both of you should watch each other's back okay?"

"Okay mum see you later, bye"

"Eric make sure you take care of the girls okay?"

"Am at their services"

"Good, now you guys should go have fun"

"Goodbye Mrs Cromwell"

"Bye sweetie"

I was surprised when I found Dax waiting for us outside my house. I haven't seen him since the last time I went to his house, okay that was two days ago. He looks so handsome in his tight jeans and T-shirt. He was wearing a suit jacket on top of the tshirt, he looks so hot.

"Hi ladies"

"Hello Dax, you look great"

"And you look beautiful as always Gia" he said as he pecked the back of her hands before helping her into the car.

I just stood staring at him as he stared back. We just couldn't find the right words to say to each other.

"Dax are you planning on starting this car or are you two going to stand there staring at each other all night?" Eric asked. When did he even pass here?

He actually broke the spell between us. I allowed Dax help me into the car before he went over to start the car.

I can't wait to see the decorations Gia made for the party. She said it was her first present to me so she took her time in designing it for me, I can't wait to see it myself.

My mouth dropped wide open when I saw the decor, it was awesome. I hugged Gia tightly to myself, this is great.

"Do you like it?" Gia asked

"I don't like it I love it, thanks Gia"

"Am glad you love it"

"Don't worry I will make your seventh birthday as memorable as mine" I saw a sad smile cross her eyes.

"Hey stop blaming yourself, am sure your mum wants you to be happy wherever she is"

"Thanks Brianna you are the best"

"Come, it seems like everyone is here already"

"Yeah I didn't really expect this place to be fully packed"

Eric invited me to the stage and I went over to greet everyone. I greeted everyone and opened the party to all games and fun. When I left the stage the DJ took over in entertaining everyone.

I wasn't really expecting any gifts from anyone but lots of them were coming from everyone. I had to pleade with Eric to help me find a safe space to keep them.

"Hey Brianna" i turned to find Mary standing in front of me with something wrapped in a gift bag that says happy birthday.

"Mary, what are you doing here?" I asked her confused.

"Should I leave, I came because our school was invited"

"No you can stay" I replied her still looking confused.

"Here I got this for you I thought it will be weird to come without a gift"

"Thanks but you didn't have to" I said with my voice coming a little hard and harsh.

"Look Brianna I know you think of me as I bitch but I actually came to apologise to you. I am sorry for what I did to Gia but I was jealous of the way Eric treated her"

"I don't understand, you are Eric's girlfriend why were you jealous of Gia?"

"Because he treated her with so much care, like right now" she said pointing over a table. Eric was seen helping Gia with her shoes.

"Well but that shouldn't make you treat her the way you did"

"I know that's why am here to apologise and also we need to get along if we want the principal to let us off on this" she said placing the gift on my hands.

"Thanks Mary. Sorry that I pulled your hair and all" I said feeling bad for what I did.

"I deserve it, happy birthday" she said before she left. I haven't seen Dax since we arrived, I need to thank him properly for letting me use his house for party.

I went up to his room to see if he was there and met him making out with some girl. I wasn't shocked but I was disappointed and angry.

He pushed away from her immediately he saw me.

"Brianna is not what you think"

"I came because I wanted us to talk, but I guess I came at the wrong time. I Will see you around"

"No Brianna's please wait" he said grabbing my hand.

"Let go off my hand this minute if you don't want another punch straight to your face" I said and pushed him off before I stormed out of the room.
