"You do know at some point you will need to go home and change. You have been here all day" Gia said, walking inside.

"I will but let me stay for another hour then I will leave"

"Am not asking you to leave as in going away, am just saying you should go home take your birth, brush and change your clothes then you can come back"

It was then I noticed that she was wearing her uniform. I totally forgot today was school, we will be starting our final exam by the end of the week.

"How was school?"

"Different, nothing is the same whenever Brianna is not around, I just can't wait until she wakes up"

"Me too"

"The doctor said if she doesn't wake up by the end of the week there is a possibility she might enter coma"

I swallowed hard when she said that, looking at her pale face and the oxygen pipe connected to her mouth made me feel more miserable.

"What about Eric?"

"He went home. He said he will return with his parents. Brianna's father wasn't informed of the incident until this afternoon"

"Okay, I will go clean myself up and come back" I said and got up to leave.

"And Dax, find something and eat or you might end up being sick"

"Okay"

Gia's POV

I watched as he left, he looked so devastated. I could have killed him yesterday if possible but after having a little chat with Mrs Cromwell I saw how he tried to protect her.

I don't know why their relationship had to be filled with nothing but pain. I looked at Brianna and took her hand which was so cold.

I started robbing my hands against hers to keep her warm. I tried as much as possible not to cry. The doctor said the injury on her head was too deep. It was a luck it didn't damage her brain.

But there is a possibility that she might be affected by the injury. We were just left in suspense as we waited for her to wake up.

"Brianna please come back to us"

Dax's POV

"Is he awake?"

"Yes he is"

"Which ward is he?"

"Ward B on the second floor"

"I want to see him"

"Ask the securities at the entrance to let you in once you get to ward B"

"Okay"

I walked into the ward Jake was being kept and stared at the handcuff on his left-hand. He was handcuffed to his hospital bed.

Immediately he saw me, he shifted uncomfortably on his bed. I walked up to him and sat beside him. At first we thought he was in the same situation as Brianna but it seems the seat belt he was wearing saved most of his ass while Brianna was left to die.

I just wanted to strangle him at that moment but I had to practise self control before I was allowed by the police to approach him.

"How are you doing Jake?"

"Who let you in here?" He asked with panic in his voice.

"Relax Jake, I just came to check up on a friend" I said, touching his shoulder slightly.

"Someone help!" He screamed.

"I didn't know you are such a scary cat, but don't worry let's talk when you might have served your years in prison"

"What?" He asked with a shocked expression on his face.

"Oh they never told you that you are going to spend the next fifteen years of your life in prison?" I asked him with amusement on my face.

Just then the ventilator started beeping and he started breathing hard. The doctors rushed inside immediately attending to him while I sat down smiling to myself.

"What did you do to him?"

"Hey, relax Dr, James I didn't touch him" I said reading out his name from his ID.

"Look kid, I don't know who you are or what you have against him but stop messing around with my patient"

"I didn't do anything to him, you can check your CCTV if there is one in this room" I said raising my hands indicating that I am harmless.

"I don't want you around my patient, if you have any problem with him wait until he is back to his health then you can do whatever you want with him, for now my job is to keep him alive and if you keep that up it will be difficult for me"

"Like I said I did nothing to him. If you know what that person you are getting so worked up to save did you wouldn't be bothered about his life" I said getting pissed off.

"I don't care what he did, as long as he is in my hospital he is my patient and my job is to keep him alive"

"I really don't blame you. I know you will be singing a different song if it was your daughter that is in between life and death" I told him and turned and left.

I need to meet Fredrick, tomorrow morning I am getting a lawyer. Am going to make sure Jake spends at least fifteen to twenty years behind bars.

When I got home I called Frederick as we both discussed for a while before I ended the call. I entered the bathroom to clean up before heading back to the hospital.

I was all ready to go when my phone ranged, it was my dad. He hasn't called me in months, why is he calling me now?"

"Hello pops"

"Dax, where are you? Are you okay?" He said, sounding all worried. I thought he only cared about his business and how to get more power.

"Am guessing the news has reached you"

"Of course it has, how did he even follow you up to your school, I thought we ditched him back in West town"

"Well we didn't and also I don't get it"

"Get what?"

"Why we had to leave West town pops. I didn't do anything but you made us leave like I was guilty and running"

"Dax, that is not important right now. I want you to fly to Europe by the end of this semester"

"What!"

"Once you are through with your exams, get your passport ready. I want you to fly in the next day. I found a good college for you up here"

I can't believe he is saying this to me, just when I finally found a place I love. With important people around me, and he wants me to move to Europe.

"Am not going"

"What?"

"Yes Dad, am not coming to Europe, not by the end of semester or ever"

"Dax this is for your own good and am not asking you to choose. Is either you come or I will come get you myself"

"This is not fair, I am not going anywhere no matter what you do or say. For how long are you going to control my life?"

"Am just doing what's best for you"

"How do you know what's best for me? Is up to me to decide that not you" I angrily ended the call before throwing my phone against the wall and it shattered into pieces.

Why now? I want to stay, to make it up to Brianna for all the pain I cost her.
