Just as things were getting out of hand, Sebastian Carter stepped forward and pulled Helen Blair apart. Helen fell into his arms and cried bitterly.
"Dad, you won't believe what this bad woman said, will you? Dad, don't believe her. You don't even know that she faked the pregnancy when you're with her every day. How could I know when I hardly see her?" Helen grabbed Sebastian's clothes, crying pitifully.
Her words pierced the most sensitive part of Sebastian's heart. He couldn't help but think of how he'd been fooled by these two scheming women lately. He always boasted of being wise, yet he was played by such worthless women. This feeling was like being slapped loudly in the face, making him feel ashamed and resentful!
But even so angry, he still maintained his composure. He lowered his head, looking at Helen, and asked in a deep voice, "Helen, then why did Dr. Hughes come so timely?"
