Chapter 76: A Strange Happiness_2

Helen noticed that James was smiling a lot today. His smile was pure and innocent, genuinely radiant, transparent, and uplifting.

"Brother James, if you keep looking at me like that, I'll get the wrong idea," Helen said with a playful grin.

"What do you mean?" He seemed not to have caught on yet.

Helen looked at him and laughed, "I might think you've fallen for me after that night."

As soon as the words left her lips, she regretted it – she had been too bold, but she couldn't help teasing him. It seemed like it could make up for the irritation she felt from being seen through by him.

But her comment seemed to startle him, and he suddenly slammed on the brakes. She was thrown forward by inertia, and the items in his coat pocket fell out.

Startled, Helen turned to scold him but noticed his face was a little red. His skin was quite dark, but it was evident that he was embarrassed.

Originally, she wanted to tease him more, but she unexpectedly couldn't bear to do it.
