Chapter 142: Hesitation

Helen Blair quietly watched Yas from the shadows.

She saw him standing there, staring intently at the packet of heroin with a pale face.

He walked over, bent down, and reached out his trembling hand towards the heroin. As soon as his fingertips touched it, he withdrew his hand as if burned. He pursed his lips and then decisively picked it up.

Helen watched him, her face expressionless.

Yas put the heroin in his pocket, stood up, and quickly left the rooftop. He passed by Helen without even noticing her presence.

Helen silently followed him.

She followed him out of the observatory. He hesitated for a moment at the gate, then headed down the path to the left.

Helen was familiar with that direction; it led to the gym, the canteen, and... the garbage dump...

Helen felt a slight stirring in her heart as she continued to trail behind him from a distance.
