It seemed that they were locked in a two-storey building, possibly in a small room on the second floor. The place must be very secluded as she has never heard any lively noises. It must be a very hidden location.
Not knowing the situation, should she wait for them to come and ransom her, or should she try to escape? But it was obvious that their guards were so strict, cruel and escaping would be very difficult. Not knowing what would happen if they find out, it would be better to stay still.
Fortunately, Uncle Albert and others were now safe, so she didn't feel too bad.
Just then, Helen Blair noticed Reuben Carter slowly moving towards her from across the room, finally leaning up against her.
Helen Blair lowered her head and looked at him coldly, "What are you doing?"
Reuben curled up, shivering incessantly. He lowered his head as if embarrassed and eventually said, "I'm cold..." His voice was barely audible, like the hum of a mosquito.
