Brian knew that eventually Helen would learn about him buying stock shares from Ruby Carter. If he didn't talk to her about it first, she would become suspicious. So, he told her in advance to show his interest and to seem considerate of her. He hoped to gain her trust when she was caught off guard.

Upon hearing Brian's words, Helen felt happy. This was good news. It seemed that Sebastian Carter couldn't hold his patience any longer. If they relinquished Blair Group's shares, she would see how to deal with them afterward.
