The north slope of Asamayama.
“Tch, there’s no way we’ll make it off the mountain,” Maihime spat.
The girls had finally arrived on the northern slopes of the volcano, a good four hours later than they had initially planned. The dimensional fissure that had opened up earlier that day unleashed a wave of [aradama] and with Maihime in the lead, the girls had managed to defeat all of them, albeit with some difficulty (Maihime herself hardly noticed any form of fatigue). They all had certainly exhausted themselves, having been forced to maintain [utsushi] for hours on end. All except for Maihime had their [utsushi] broken at least once during the battle which only further exacerbated their exhaustion (the encounter also served as an on-the-spot endurance test in which passing means breaking past one’s natural limits as death is a given if unable to maintain [utsushi] in an extended battle against [aradama]).
