Letting My Guard Down

For some reason, whenever he told me not to worry, I always found myself worrying about him. At least it seemed like he was just coming home late to avoid me because of our argument from last time. I wanted to ask him more about his work or what was going on in his life but decided to hold my tongue.

“It's all done now. Your hair is dry now,” I announced while feeling a little proud of myself before putting the hair dryer to the side.

Silence settled in between us, and I realized that we were alone in his bedroom and on the bed together. I knew that I should leave before something would happen, but just when I was about to excuse myself, Brandon reached for my hand and entwined his fingers with mine. His abrupt and unexpected action made me turn towards him and our eyes locked.

“I should leave,” I quickly said.
