Relentless Assault

"Use Air Slash, Butterfree, to cut through those Frenzy Plant!" Solidad shouted to her Butterfree.

Butterfree, upon hearing her command, transformed the flight energy swirling around its wings into sharp, spinning disks. As it moved, all the brown roots shattered in its path.

Seeing these elegant white wind wheels gracefully twirling in the air, Yuga marveled at the coordinator's ability to use Air Slash with such artistic flair. It was clear that she possessed great skill.

However, despite the Frenzy Plant being cut down, more and more roots continued to emerge from the soil as if an endless supply.

This was inexplicable!

Solidad couldn't believe it.

Frenzy Plant was the ultimate Grass-type move, and maintaining it for so long—could her Venusaur withstand the drain?

The answer was yes!

If Solidad observed carefully, she would notice that while Venusaur used Frenzy Plant, the beautiful flower on Venusaur's back glowed brightly in the sunlight.

This was performance of Synthesis move.

Usually, Venusaur would use Grassy Terrain to recover at this point.

But it had discovered that Synthesis was more suitable.

On a sunny day, the recovery capability of Synthesis was much stronger than Grassy Terrain, and it was less likely to inadvertently heal the opponent.

Many Pokémon with poorly executed Grassy Terrains accidentally benefited their opponents.

Only a recovery move of this magnitude, like Synthesis, could truly support Venusaur through the massive energy consumption brought about by Frenzy Plant.

Once Frenzy Plant ended, the user would become stiff.

At this point, the airborne Butterfree, having expended a lot of energy cutting the roots, appeared weary and sluggish.

Butterfree wasn't a Pokémon known for its stamina.

Was this Yuga's true strength?

Watching Yuga, who remained composed, Solidad couldn't help but feel impressed.

The Venusaur seemed unimpressive at first glance, but in the hands of its trainer, it was formidable.

One might even say it was ferocious.

In a battle like this, where one side attacked while simultaneously recovering health, what could one do except feel overwhelmed? You needed exceptionally high offensive power to land a one-hit KO; you couldn't afford to compete in terms of endurance because you'd lose.

Clearly, Butterfree wasn't in that category.

Its attack power was average, even with the boost from Quiver Dance. Just one round of Quiver Dance wasn't enough to achieve the desired effect.

"Butterfree, use Silver Wind."

As time passed, Butterfree's energy depletion worsened, and its speed began to decline gradually.

Realizing that even with Air Slash, there was no way to cut down the endless roots, Solidad abandoned the aggressive strategy. Instead, she directed Butterfree to evade while attacking.

As evasion increased, the intensity of the attacks decreased.

The continuous use of Silver Wind increased the likelihood of Butterfree's stat boosts (Silver Wind had a 10% chance to increase all of the user's stats).

In the wind, Butterfree, assisted by the boost in evasion, demonstrated how high intelligence benefited a Pokémon. Such Pokémon usually had a better understanding of energy and skills.

Like this Butterfree, which showed exceptional control over both Bug-type and Flying-type energy.

This was why it could quickly perform Quiver Dance and use Silver Wind for acceleration.

A Pokémon's intelligence typically correlated with its potential; the higher the potential, the greater the intelligence.

However, there were exceptions, such as the Butterfree before Yuga, whose intelligence was certainly on par with Pokémon of higher potential grades like the typical blue potential.

Now, Butterfree chose to use Silver Wind, giving up the rapid stat boosts from Quiver Dance.

Unfortunately, under the intensive assault of Venusaur's attacks, Butterfree couldn't perform Quiver Dance. Even though its Quiver Dance speed was impressive, the strain on its stamina was severe. Unlike Venusaur, it couldn't use two moves simultaneously, so its hope rested on the slim probability of boosting its stats with Silver Wind.

Yuga's Pokémon often accomplished things that were seemingly impossible for others, thanks to their outstanding potential and exceptional intelligence, enabling them to multitask.

Placing hope in the tiny probability of Silver Wind was, in reality, quite irrational. Solidad was aware of this, but she had no other choice.

Under normal circumstances, it was already challenging for Butterfree to evade Venusaur's attacks, let alone counterattack. At this moment, Solidad suddenly noticed that the audacious brown roots were retracting into the soil, disappearing from sight. She quickly shouted to Butterfree, "Butterfree, use Air Slash!"

What an excellent opportunity for an offensive move!

Frenzy Plant, being the ultimate Grass-type technique, led to temporary stiffness after use. To bring Venusaur into range, Butterfree had purposely closed the distance between them to ensure Air Slash hit.

As expected, Air Slash hit Venusaur accurately. However, Venusaur had high defenses and a substantial amount of health, so although it was injured, it wasn't a fatal blow.

Just when Butterfree was about to retreat after the attack, a green pillar of light rose from directly below it. In the blink of an eye, it enveloped Butterfree.

This was Venusaur's Grass Pledge.

Seeing this Grass Pledge, Solidad's face turned pale. It shouldn't be possible! Had Venusaur overcome the stiffness caused by Frenzy Plant?

However, in reality, every trainer knew that the side effects of such ultimate moves couldn't be completely eliminated; at best, training could shorten the duration of the stiffness. So what was going on with Venusaur?

Before withdrawing Frenzy Plant, it had already secretly prepared Grass Pledge. Since the effectiveness of Synthesis and Frenzy Plant diminished after a while due to the sunny weather's duration, using both moves simultaneously at this point would increase consumption, reduce recovery, and weaken attack power.

When Frenzy Plant was withdrawn, Venusaur's Grass Pledge was ready. As soon as Venusaur's stiffness ended, it was hit.

Inside the green light pillar, Butterfree let out a cry of pain. Venusaur capitalized on its advantage, and two flexible vines shot out, quickly binding Butterfree tightly.

In terms of strength, Butterfree was no match for Venusaur. Unable to break free, it was slammed to the ground. Once grounded, Butterfree lost its Flying-type attribute. Venusaur immediately followed with Earthquake, rendering Butterfree incapacitated.

Observing the chaotic temporary battle scene and the unconscious Butterfree lying on the ground, Solidad fell silent.

This was downright cruel! Butterfree was so cute, how could they!

"Erm..." Yuga suddenly realized that they might have gone a bit too far, getting carried away with the battle and forgetting to hold back...

This Butterfree seemed, well, maybe just a tad worse for wear.
