Early the next morning, Yuga woke up in a state of panic.
He opened his tent and saw numerous Swellow and Taillow circling in the sky, while below them, countless panicked Beautifly were fleeing in all directions.
It turned out that as soon as the morning sun had risen, a large number of Taillow, led by the Swellow, quietly launched an attack on the south bank of the canyon.
At that moment, all the Beautifly were still asleep, even the male Beautifly that had been excited all night were now fast asleep.
The Swellow and Taillow had come without any warning.
By Yuga's estimation, there were probably hundreds of Swellow and Taillow that had launched the attack early in the morning.
At this point, Zaden's Skarmory was already outside, confronting the attackers, and Zaden himself was organizing the Beautifly for a counterattack.
Yuga grabbed his Chatot, who was still half-asleep in his arms, and shouted, "Chatot, wake up and get to work!"
Without being fully awake, Chatot was unceremoniously thrown into the midst of the Taillow group. As soon as the Taillow noticed this unexpected guest, they immediately began to swarm and attack Chatot.
With its eyes wide open now, Chatot instinctively used its Heat Wave on the Taillow that were attacking it. The scorching heat made the Taillow scatter in panic, and Chatot realized what was happening.
Muttering a low curse at Yuga for his actions, Chatot began its counterattack against the Taillow.
Despite being fellow avian Pokémon like the Swellow and Taillow, this time Chatot couldn't stand on the same side as them.
On one side, Chatot, with its extraordinary strength as a pseudo-Elite level, intercepted a large group of Taillow, while on the other side, Vivillon engaged several Swellow in battle.
As a Pokémon that had once been abandoned due to its weakness, Vivillon understood the sorrow that came with being weak.
So, for these fellow members of its kind (however reluctantly), it empathized with them and was filled with sympathy.
It didn't share the human perspective of might makes right. Just because they were weak, did that mean they had to become prey for others?
Facing the Swellow that naturally countered it, Vivillon showed no fear. With a flap of its wings, a powerful Gust formed a tornado and rushed toward the Swellow.
One of the Swellow used its Tailwind ability, significantly boosting its speed, and swiftly dodged Vivillon's Gust attack. At the same time, it used Air Slash on Vivillon.
Several Wind Blades came at Vivillon from all directions, leaving it with no choice but to use Protect.
Having successfully defended against the Swellow's onslaught, Vivillon flapped its wings, creating numerous air currents that sent the surrounding Swellow tumbling.
High in the sky, Vivillon looked down at the several Swellow below. It let out a rapid and loud cry, and then its wings began to vibrate rapidly, sending out shockwaves towards the Swellow.
This time, Vivillon used Supersonic.
Vivillon's Supersonic was extremely fast, and several Swellow were immediately hit and fell into a state of confusion. In their confused state, the Swellow began to attack indiscriminately, some targeting their own comrades, and none of them were clear-headed.
At this point, Vivillon finally began its own Quiver Dance. It had been swarmed as soon as it arrived and hadn't had a chance to perform its dance.
This wasn't a one-on-one battle. Faced with several Swellow attacking it, Vivillon felt somewhat overwhelmed.
Yuga didn't rush to release other Pokémon to assist Chatot and Vivillon.
Because it wasn't the climax yet, and if all their Pokémon were revealed too early, it might arouse the suspicion of the Swellow and Taillow.
The migration of the Beautifly and Dustox was still two days away. It wasn't a good idea to reveal their full strength prematurely. Yuga also believed that Vivillon and Chatot could handle the situation for now.
Moreover, under the organization of Zaden, the previously panicked Beautifly began to organize themselves systematically and launched a counterattack.
Individually, a single Beautifly might not be a match for Swellow and Taillow, but they had the advantage of numbers and could overwhelm their opponents with sheer quantity.
Without the organization led by Zaden, these Beautifly, in their state of panic, wouldn't have known what organization or counterattack meant.
Meanwhile, Vivillon's enhanced Quiver Dance finally came to an end, and some of the Swellow had recovered from their state of confusion.
Vivillon's Quiver Dance enhanced all aspects of its abilities. After the enhancement, Vivillon was at the peak of its condition, and its aura was even more intimidating.
On the other hand, the Swellow were in disarray, attacking each other or themselves due to their confusion.
Vivillon once again used Gust, but this time it was incomparable to the previous one.
The transparent Wind Blades were all absorbed by the Gust, torn into pieces, and the Gust continued to move forward with undiminished force, colliding with the Swellow.
The tremendous tearing force generated by the Gust continuously pulled the Swellow inside, and soon they couldn't hold on and were sucked in.
The Swellow inside the Gust were like clothes thrown into a washing machine, constantly spinning and tugging.
When they were thrown out again, they were already in a sorry state, with ruffled feathers and numerous wounds. They could hardly maintain stable flight.
Gasping for breath, the terrified Swellow looked at Vivillon, and then they hurriedly gathered their subordinates, the Taillow, preparing to retreat.
The state of being disoriented and powerless that they had just experienced was too terrifying.
The Taillow on the other side had long wanted to retreat. They were almost roasted to a crisp by Chatot.
Chatot was highly skilled at using the Heat Wave technique, and since Heat Wave was an area attack, it could roast a large group of Taillow at once, almost turning them into roast pigeons.
If it weren't for their leaders still fighting hard, they would have fled long ago. Who would willingly endure such suffering?
Watching the retreating Taillow and Swellow, Yuga's group did not pursue them.
Their purpose in this journey was solely to protect the Beautifly and Dustox from harm, not to exterminate the Swellow and Taillow.
Apart from Yuga's group on the south bank, the group of Roxanne on the north bank and the group of Zinnia at the eastern end had also faced attacks from Swellow and Taillow of varying sizes.
Only the river's western end where Zoltan's group was located remained peaceful.
After Yuga's group successfully repelled the attacking Taillow and Swellow, the other three groups also managed to drive away their attackers.
However, this attack didn't come without casualties.
Many of the unprepared Beautifly at the beginning were injured, and some had even died.
