Chen Wang's Death...
A demonic figure in the form of a mighty roc soared through the sky.
This roc, proficient in both the Bloodcurse Imprint and Stellar Transposition, held a unique position due to Qin Wentian's possession of the complete Divine Stele. With this revelation, everything fell into place.
As Chen Wang contemplated this, he tilted his head to observe the silhouette perched atop the great roc. His heart raced uncontrollably, and his face turned pallid.
It was undeniably him.
He hadn't perished within the Pill Emperor Hall. Instead, he had returned incognito, his bloodline's power intensified, making him resemble the sovereign of all demons. This newfound bloodline strength allowed him to transcend cultivation realms, exuding an aura akin to a third-level Heavenly Dipper Sovereign.
Chen Wang's eyes widened as he remembered the formidable might of Qin Wentian, a man capable of fighting and defeating opponents multiple levels above him. He immediately turned to Chen Xiao and urgently shouted, "IT'S QIN WENTIAN, UNCLE XIAO, WE MUST RETREAT!"
"Qin Wentian..." Chen Xiao's heart tightened upon hearing that name. It was a name etched deep in his memory. Just over a year ago, the tale of a mighty roc shattering the Pill Emperor Hall had dominated conversations across Grand Xia. The hero of that narrative was none other than Qin Wentian.
A surge of unparalleled sharpness emanated from Chen Xiao as he summoned the Kingly Sword, his Astral Nova, into existence.
"Bzzz!" Stellar Transposition was activated, causing Qin Wentian's figure to vanish before their eyes. Chen Xiao's expression darkened as he, too, employed Stellar Transposition in an attempt to escape. Both moved with such astounding speed that they transformed into streaks of light. Finally, the resounding hum of a sword filled the air, and fresh blood splattered across the heavens.
A blurred figure plummeted from the sky—it was Chen Xiao, a fourth-level Heavenly Dipper Sovereign! If he had engaged Qin Wentian in direct combat, he might have held his own for a while. However, his immediate instinct was to flee. Unfortunately, his movements couldn't elude Qin Wentian's monstrous perception. The moment Chen Xiao opted for Stellar Transposition marked his inevitable demise. The melodic hum of the Sword Melody filled the air, and the moment the sword's keening resounded, his life was extinguished.
At the precise instant Chen Xiao executed Stellar Transposition, Chen Wang had already begun retreating in the opposite direction. But his path was obstructed by Qin Wentian's great roc. The roc's speed was incomprehensible, whirling around Chen Wang at a blinding pace, forcing him to a halt. Those few seconds of delay were enough for Qin Wentian to catch up. Calmly, he approached Chen Wang, who could only contort his face in sheer terror when he saw the unmasked killing intent in Qin Wentian's eyes.
"Qin Wentian, if you let me go unharmed, I swear on my clan's name that we'll cease all hostilities against you and your friends. We'll even consider the grudge between us settled," Chen Wang implored, gazing at Qin Wentian with a hint of desperation. His paramount concern was staying alive. After suffering defeat at Qin Wentian's hands earlier and being forced to use his life-saving treasure, he had let anger drive him into pursuing Qin Wentian alongside Chen Xiao. Little did he know that he was chasing none other than Qin Wentian himself! Qin Wentian had concealed his true strength until this moment, and it was too late for regrets now.
Had Chen Wang known he was facing Qin Wentian, he would never have dared to pursue him.
Qin Wentian remained silent, an oppressive aura bearing down on Chen Wang as he took a step forward.
Time was of the essence. Although he had successfully lured Chen Wang and Chen Xiao far away, Qin Wentian saw no reason to delay. In this world, anything was possible. Who would have believed him capable of splitting the Pill Emperor Hall? Thus, Qin Wentian harbored no intentions of underestimating his opponents, even now.
Astral light burst forth as Chen Wang suddenly appeared before Qin Wentian, his palm engulfed in fiery magma. Chen Wang had been preparing for this, not hesitating to use his most potent moves.
A swift swish of the wind, and Qin Wentian's sword sliced through the air, its light piercing Chen Wang's throat.
Chen Wang's body stiffened, his hands clutching his throat, his eyes filled with extreme reluctance. He was Chen Wang, the pride of the mighty Great Solar Chen Clan. He refused to die like this. He refused!
He had the potential to become a future leader of the Chen Clan; he had the ancient medallion and the opportunity to explore the sacred place outside of Grand Xia. But now, death loomed ever closer.
The could-have-beens played like a haunting melody in his mind. Ever since he first heard the name Qin Wentian, his destiny had shifted from a beautiful dream to an unending nightmare.
He remembered the first time he saw Qin Wentian. Qin Wentian and Ouyang Kuangsheng were caught spying on the Chen Clan from outside their manor. Though they displayed impressive power, their strength was insufficient to warrant more than a passing glance from Chen Wang.
But that marked the beginning of Qin Wentian's rise. In the Heavenly Fate Rankings, he defeated Chen Wang and claimed the top position. From a shadow under Hua Taixu's brilliance, he became a force to be reckoned with in his own right. Yet, Chen Wang couldn't shake the disbelief that he would meet his end at Qin Wentian's hands.
As death approached, a thought flashed in his mind: How many talents existed in Grand Xia? But how many of them could truly stand at the pinnacle, looking down upon others?
Chen Wang closed his eyes, surrendering to the oblivion of death. Qin Wentian, his silhouette flickering, collected the bodies of Chen Wang and Chen Xiao before mounting the great roc. Together, they soared into the distance.
A day had passed, and news of the colossal battle that had erupted outside of Ginkou had spread far and wide. Ouyang Kuangsheng and the majority of his allies had returned safely to their respective factions. However, the experts from the Chen Clan, Hua Clan, Wang Clan, and Nine Mystical Palace had seemingly vanished into thin air.
The fact that all these individuals hailed from transcendent powers made the situation even more bewildering. If both sides had suffered heavy losses, that could be understood, but the utter annihilation of one faction? It was almost inconceivable. The unsettling possibility hung heavy in the air, casting a pall of unease over everyone.
Particularly perplexing was the disappearance of a rising star from the Chen Clan's younger generation, Chen Wang. Chen Wang had been a prominent figure, even though his brilliance had been somewhat dimmed by the likes of Qin Wentian and Hua Taixu. He had ranked second on the prestigious Heavenly Fate Rankings, which spoke volumes about his strength. Chen Wang had a knack for defying the odds, frequently displaying his ability to fight opponents from higher cultivation levels. The news of his vanishing had sent shockwaves through the ranks of the Chen Clan.
The disappearance of a figure as significant as Chen Wang was bound to trigger a storm. Currently, the Ouyang Aristocrat Clan had seemingly retreated to their bases in Ginkou and bolstered their defenses with additional reinforcements. They clearly feared that Chen Wang's mysterious disappearance might ignite a larger conflict. It seemed they were preparing for any potential repercussions.
Meanwhile, in the Chen Clan, a group of individuals had gathered in a lavish grand hall. Each of them exuded an air of authority, their eyes flashing with a sinister gleam as they discussed the latest developments.
"How is the investigation progressing?" inquired the leader of the Chen Clan.
"We are still investigating and are in the process of capturing those who were present at the scene," replied Chen Fan.
The Chen Clan leader nodded in acknowledgment. It was painfully evident that Chen Wang had vanished, and the pressing question was: who was behind his disappearance?
"Chen Wang is most likely deceased. Initiate the selection process for his successor, someone worthy of undergoing the special nurturing of the clan. Furthermore, we must recover that medallion from Chen Wang's possession at all costs," the leader ordered.
"Understood," chorused the others. They all recognized the immense significance of that medallion. Its loss was simply not an option.
"I can't help but think that the motive behind Chen Wang's disappearance might be related to that medallion. Otherwise, why would we be unable to locate their bodies? It appears that someone was after that medallion," someone ventured, prompting the others to nod in agreement. If the objective was indeed the medallion, then this situation had just become far more complex and dangerous.
"Intensify the investigations; dispatch agents to gather information from the spectators. If there's indeed a transcendent power behind this, we must uncover their identity. That medallion is not something they can simply swallow," declared the Chen Clan leader, his tone icy.
Members of the Ouyang Aristocrat Clan, Mystic Moon Sect, and Jiang Clan had all retreated to their respective strongholds, unwilling to venture outside. None of them had anticipated that Chen Wang would meet such a fate. The Chen Clan had sprung into action, deploying an extensive network of informants to monitor their movements. It was evident that the Chen Clan was seething with anger, and caution was the order of the day.
Yet, the Chen Clan was not rash enough to wage war recklessly. They were fully aware that once they chose to unleash an all-out conflict, the consequences would be nothing short of catastrophic.
...
As for Qin Wentian, he remained oblivious to the events unfolding in Ginkou.
He currently examined the spoils he had acquired from the interspatial rings of Chen Xiao and Chen Wang. Yuan Meteor Stones filled their rings, adding to the substantial sum already obtained from the interspatial rings of the fallen Heavenly Dipper Sovereigns. He had amassed a staggering wealth of resources. Besides the stones, there were a few innate techniques and treasures, but Qin Wentian found them of little use.
There was one item, however, that piqued his interest.
He held an ancient medallion in his hand, emanating an enigmatic aura, clearly an extraordinary artifact. This medallion was obtained from Chen Wang and appeared to hold great significance. Although Qin Wentian was unsure of its purpose, its placement alongside other precious treasures in Chen Wang's ring was telling.
Qin Wentian furrowed his brows, his experience in cultivation guiding him to discern the uniqueness of the medallion. However, when he attempted to probe it with his perception, he encountered an impenetrable barrier of mysterious energy.
"No matter. Since Chen Wang valued this so highly, I'll capture a few members of the Chen Clan at an opportune moment and interrogate them about it," Qin Wentian mused, stowing the medallion away. He rose to his feet, his appearance shifting with the facial transformation art, and Little Rascal transformed into a demonic lion. Together, they resumed their journey toward Ginkou.
Having missed out on the previous day's battle, Qin Wentian was uncertain of the current situation in Ginkou. It was wiser to be cautious than caught off guard.
